As long as there's no C&C forum and we're all here in one place, I wanted to put out the call for artists both 2D and 3D, because it seems we'll be needing a lot of both in the modding community.
Obviously we'll have to wait for the game's release to know all the assets that need to be created. But, broadly, unit models and icons, building icons, district icons and models, improvement icons and models + animation, the image underlay when choosing a civ at the beginning of a new age - there will plenty to be done. (I assume there must be a way to make the leader models use a static/2D image, as in Civ5 - leader animation has historically been extremely specialized.) It is often the bottleneck holding the pace of modding back.
I am hoping to add some civilizations from the Caucasus - Georgia, Urartu, Circassians and the Caucasian Imamate, which I have already done most of the research for; if anyone wants to help create art assets for any of these and thinks they can match the art style of Firaxis, hit me up (I will probably start at the end of next month). But if not me, then there will always be others.
We will always need artists and modelers. If you have not yet dipped your toes into the modding scene then I would like to encourage you to consider it.
