Sure money helps, but I don't think that's the main reason our military is so effective. I think it's our constant warring that does it. The fact that we are always fighting somewhere means we have plenty of opportunities to put our new tactics and technology through actual battlefield tests and see what really works and what's a dud.

Then again the US army gets steamrolled by every alien invasion ever, going by the movies. Even third world aliens defeat it (Battlefield: LA) :)

Operational experience is certainly a key to readiness and therefore, performance, whether its military, sports, or anything else FTM.

Well the Pentagon does have a plan for alien invasion, but since we've never had to use it, there's no telling how effective it would be. The extremely basic gist of the plan though is to try to fight them conventionally for as long as possible then disperse into the countryside and start training civilians and acting as leaders for a guerilla resistance.

Thanks for the link. Now, I will probably read it, though I don't really have a dog in the specific hunt. But I will just point out, that if you're trimming an industry from 17% of the economy to 12% of the economy, it's going to look like a lot of failed Investments and job losses.

Those specific human and capital resources when you to be reassigned. Make sure that you're not falling for the same cognitive trap that causes us to wring our hands over the buggy whip manufacturers.

The real question is whether the increased efficiency would allow supply-side growth.

Can you please acknowledge that you understood my point?

Whether Bernie makes this mistake is independent of you being able to recognize it

You are imagining the consequences of legislation you know nothing about. I see no need to further embarrass you by addressing your points.

I'm imagining no legislation. I'm talking about ... oh never mind, it was obvious in what I originally wrote.

Kinda. In the Pentagon's defense, they did come up with the plan before Hollywood did.

Hollywood probably stole the plan from them.

Something about how to optimize our profit from other's lived lives and the when/appropriateness of that overriding the quality of such, right? :mischief:

    I have some musings on non-professional music/community theatre/art regarding.

It's more that "you cannot stop overpaying for something without causing the people getting paid being paid less". This will be signaled as 'removing investment from providing the service'.
