I was playing Civ 3 today, and i had an army of tanks, i used it to attack the enemy when I noticed my army was promoted. What exactly does this do?

If you have veteran or lower units in your Army, they can be promoted up to elite. You cannot get a leader from an eliite unit in your army. I assume that since you have more elite units in your army, that your army has more hitpoints? Can someone comment on that?

Oh, so its not the army upgrading just the units inside of it.

That is correct, an full-health Army can have anywhere from 9hp (all Regulars) to 24hp (4- 6hp Elite units).

Which reminds me of a question - some of my armies are listed as "Regular" and others as Veteran or Elite even though an Elite army has the same number of HPs (14 or 15 - I have built the Pentagon so have 4 units/army) as a Regular one in at least two cases. Not that it matters what the army is rated at, but where does the rating come from?

Any army will not rescue you from an impudent victory of the computer player.... "At any cost"

you mean a fully loaded / full health army can have anywhere from 6hp (3 conscripts/drafts) to 20hp (4-5hp elite inits) i don't know what mod you're playing, but elites have 5hp

6 hp is possible in conquests. I've seen with amazement (Sp?) that my ancient cavalary has gone up to 6. And it starts with 5.

Same with Indian War Elephants.

You could fill an army with just one conscript, in which case it would likely have only 2 hit points before any combat. Seems kind of pointless, but it is possible. You wouldn't even have to get the conscript from a goodie hut, draftees only have two hit points.

A possible reason for a one unit army would be to get the extra movement point. Or when planning to add more when better units are available.

oh, i forgot about those +1 hp units, because...........i don't have conquets  i wish me a maery x-mas, i wish me a maery x-mas, i wish me a maery x-mas, now give me conquests, wow, a 24 hp army, that's like 6 veterans, i see posibilities.................
