    Two questions about art:
    1. How would you define art? (your own definition, not something from a dictionary)
    2. Poll question

    all of them,
They all involve creativity, expression, and emotion, at least when done well.

Art is an attempt to reach beauty through creation. There is countless ways to do it.

I voted for all but sex. Sex is something intimate, related to giving/taking pleasure and love. It has nothing to do with the "arts". Someone who would try to create "artistic" things in sex would loose its very essence.
I also voted "sports" but only to include martial arts. Standard sports are a good way of life, but has nothing to do with artistry.

None, "art" is just a label for
    passing off shoddy workmanship
    to the governement as "culture".

A good painter is a painter, not
    an artist.

Definitely not sex. As for the others, all of them can be art at some stages, when done right.

So those flat, rectangular objects you see in museums with brightly-colored shapes on them are actually failed attempts at house-painting. I always wondered about that.

All bar the three letter word. (That's s-e-x, not a-r-t ;))

Although I'd reclassify talking as public speaking, or use of words, etc.

Well, I guess all of them could be some sort of art. But I voted for sculpting and painting. The others doesn't makes me think of art works.

    OTHER!!!???
The main, the only possible art is NATURE, the UNIVERSE. Anything except is either a part of it or a silly copy. What do you enjoy more: watching the sunset, or a picture of this very sunset; what do you consider more inspired - mountains, or archiectural monuments, real bodies or sculptures?

    Sex? How is it written - Kama-sutra ? :)

You didn't put in music writing or song writing. For me music writing should certainly be in there as a counter to music playing, which is more a craft.

At it's very highest a craft may blur the boundaries of art and craft, but for me true art is when you "create an opinion or express an opinion within your craft".

Shows just how much you know...

Do yourself a favour and do not talk about issues you are not familiar with. Silence is golden.

Then practice it ya flamin' ******
(i took care of it myself lefty)

    Are you an "ARTIST" Icebraze?
a suckin' off the government teet.

If you ever talk with someone who
    actually makes aliving at painting,
    scrupture or making objects of
beauty, you'll find some of them
say that, i know several famous
    scrupturors and a painter and
some wood carvers. Thats where I
    got that line from.

    (i supply them with locations
    of treeknots, deadwood,
    stone, old iron implements etc)

I think yer just a grade 10 kid
    parroting his no-talent grade 10
art teacher, with plans of a suckin'
    off the government tee.

    I'm flaming?
At least I show some respect to artists.

No, I'm not an artist. I learn Physics and Computers.
But I learned to appreciate arts and ways of expression.
Seems to me your primitive mind can't understand art.

Even if some of them say that it doesn't make it true.
Art is a way of expression, of opening your creativeness.
If someone who has the ability to draw perfectionism, and chooses to draw just a ****ty line with some weird signs around it he is trying to express something.
He ain't trying to sell crap for lots, and art was not made to be something to make a living of.
My father scored 100% in Arts History, my sister, 96%. My dad won first place in a Maariv (second most popular newspaper in Israel) art contest when he was about 20, and my sister won first place in a national artistry photographing contest.
None of them ever became rich for that, none of them made it a career, but they know art and they know how to appreciate it.
And none of them ever degraded and generalised artists in a primitive and disgusting way like you do.

I don't study art you primtive ape. But those comments, show again how much you know.

Film should have it's own catagory and not fall under "other". Films are art, too.
