Why do the vast majority of Christian scientists believe in evolution?

Do you have a definition of 'information' with regard to mutation yet?

Question for CH: are you as hot as your avatar would have me believe? And a follow up question: what is the metric with which you decide which evidence, math, etc. to ignore in forming your understanding of the world?
I'm aware, I was just messing around. ;)

But still, CH, are you hot?
A few weeks back he sent me a picture of himself. He said he thought he looked a bit like a porn star, and I agreed. (The seedy Movember moustache and Hawaiian shirt did it.)

I think his avatar is of an Australian tennis player he likes. (Perhaps he really is a porn star, and she's of one of his many ladies - or he wishes so. :D )

Why would you start up a new thread after ignoring most of the questions asked in the old one?
In all fairness, there's about 20 of us to 1 of him. (Or 1 of whoever else that has the determination to take his place for a while.) So he can't possibly answer everything we ask of him. :)

The internet naturally tends to consist mostly of educated people, so it's a pretty harsh environment for creationists. ;)

See, I think he is just starting up these threads for his own amusement. I mean, everybody but him is talking about creationism in here. He is probably sitting by a pool somewhere with a laptop in his lap, sipping on a margarita, giggling.

Whoa, whoa.... hold on for a sec here. That is one of the most incorrect things you could ever say about the internet.

Then again, maybe my standards are too high ;)

Possibly. In fact, that sounds like an excellent idea. :D

Okay, I guess I could have phrased that differently. What I should have said is that, of those who actually care about the whole "creationism vs evolution" thing, the ones who are creationists tend to be very outspoken on most websites throughout the internet. (Aside from the creationist websites, which is probably because the great majority seem to censor any non-creationist comments.)

I guess my intended point was that, when there's an uncensored discussion of creationism on the internet, the creationists will very often be far outnumbered by those opposing them.

Yeah. I think that's just an effect of it being a fringe movement more than anything, though. I mean, you'd see the same thing with a "flat earth" discussion, or whatever.

Yeah... the flat earth movement is a lot more "fringe" than the creationist one, though. Or at least it appears that way, because a lot of creationists are so verbal about it.

But I think my point still stands about creationists getting a harder time on the internet. If you debate with creationists in person (as I have on occasion), it's often not quite as easy to argue your points. ;)

Mind you, that's probably because many creationist proponents are fairly skilled orators. (Of course, being good at debating has no correlation with being right. :p )

Since the old thread is well over 1000 posts I have finally got around to starting a new thread.

I will update this post once I am back with both hands. So go on without me for 3 more weeks. I might post occasionally, but once I am back I will try to answer as many questions from the previous thread.

Link to the previous thread. Ask a Young Earth Creationist
Thanks Emp for reminding me about that, well it is in my signature, so it won't go unnoticed anyway.

Maybe you should open a third thread, once we know that a YEC will actually attend it.

dude, in person I'd be happy to argue but on an internet forum? about creationism? seriously? seriously?
The only other thing to do on the internet is pirate software and watch porn.
This thread will go just as far as the previous one. Not very far.
I had fun reading it, for what it's worth.

One word: Berzerker. Oh I'll have fun wit this one, too!

What internet are you hanging out in and where can I find a bus there?

What internet are you hanging out in and where can I find a bus there?
 I'm starting to regret that statement. I really should have said "internet forums" instead of "the internet", and "people educated enough not to be creationists" instead of "educated people". :p

Well, most of the people making the arguments in the first place that YECs end up using (Ham and Hovind and the like) have in fact taken science classes. The fact that they still believe such obviously incorrect things is not because they never heard of good science. Now, I think there are a lot of Creationists who are only Creationists because they never had a good class on evolution (like my fianceé, for example).

I've never experienced this, though I'm from a part of the country where really only true wackjobs don't believe in evolution.

Yes - are you expressing surprise that I am going to get married (which I did mention before, but you must not have seen it) or that she is a YEC (of sorts)?
You're engaged, but didn't you say in another thread you were a virgin? I've never understood waiting for marriage, honestly you really should try before you buy.
