I don't believe there has been one yet, so i'm all open to your questions reguarding my stance or should i say disbelief. Though, i should mention that i've been baptized (roman catholic) before i was even able to spell a word, i guess against my will.

Things has changed a lot since then.

What is your reasoning that there is no God?
The same reasoning thats tells me there are no unicorns, tooth fairies, leprechauns, Greek gods, roman gods, Norse gods, ancient Egypt gods, banshees, oriental gods, dragons, majic, Djin, flying carpets, moon made of cheese, Mayan gods, Aztec gods, Hindu gods, or any other mythical nonsensical balderdash.

Common sense and deductive reasoning based on scientific study and the histiry of religion.

So are you a no god athiest, most likely no god athiest, or more of an agnostic than an athiest?

edit: and maybe any other athiests who post regarding athiesm could declare their specific degree of athiesm.

There is no degrees. Either 'nothing = athiest' or 'maybe = agnostic'.

I wonder whats with the hostility between atheists and the religious from the atheist's POV? (Note, please keep the answer civil :))

No, there's a difference between "I believe there is no god" and "The most reasonable interpretation is that there is no god".

To some extent I think athiests and agnostics feel marganilized by the abrahamic folks. When an athiest says he is uncomfortable with the phrase "In God We Trust" on our money the common response is: "most of world believes in one god so get over it".

Same thing with "One Nation under God" in our pledge of allegiance.

@AlCosta,

Because i believe in evolution, that life started naturally and evolved through the era way beyond our comprehension of the universe. I believe that life forms can spawn then evolve through the ages wherever it can be possible and not because of divine intervention or a holy god decided it was to be that way.

For instance, why aren't the disonaurs not mentioned in holy books? They inhabited this planet far longer than us. What about the big bang, did a single god created all of this?

I don't believe in miracles either, when men couldn't explain why storms formed over their heads and lightings set on fire forest they had to find out why. What was the sun, the moon, the stars. Religions started like that, because men were asking themselves what were they. Thats my view on it.

Lastly, i understand why people need to have faith in a god, that he is watching over their shoulder. If it is helping them living better that is good for them. I am happy for them. I went through different state, when i was a young boy, i thought there was a god, not necessary a christian, or jew, or muslim, or whatever. I thought there was someone with immense power. Then i grew up, learning why and how. And then, i witnessed death, i learned what was death, and i saw death. Thats when i learned there was nothing after your last breath. At least i believe so.

Every life must end at some point, thats the way it is, why should 'we' human be blessed by the divine creator and graced by a built up just for us, heaven while other life forms can't have it?

Yeeek, those may be your reasons for not being a christian.

But what are your reasons for being an athiest?

But it makes sense that one should understand being a minority means that you won't be the most common to be catered to.

Go to a Muslim country and tell them that Ramadan offends you, they'll laugh at you.

Go tell Africans that you feel whites in Africa are misrepresented. They'll laugh you back to the suburbs.

that was cold man.

What made you come out of the closet about your atheism?

Hell, I know its Yeeek's thread but I'll shoot.

This question is rather amusing to me. I have never 'come out of the closet' about my beliefs (or lack thereof) and the mere concept is laughable. Why would coming out of the closet be necessary when atheism is widely socially acceptable. The actively religious make up the minority in my locality - perhaps its more of an American issue.

I will quote Holbach, wich list the reasons why i am an atheist. It might offend a few religious people though.

If we go back to the beginning we shall find that ignorance and fear created the gods; that fancy, enthusiasm, or deceit adorned or disfigured them; that weakness worships them; that credulity preserves them, and that custom, respect and tyranny support them in order to make the blindness of men serve its own interests.

Well it is one of the main things about atheism that really irk me.:)
This question is rather amusing to me
Why thank you.:)

I'm funny.:smug:

My question was intended for those who were raised religiously, thus the "coming out of the closet" part was a little joke.
