    I can see why they'd be reluctant to answer some of these questions, like the first one, which would require a two-page essay and be filled with potential PR landmines.

    If they really thought it was a landmine, they could have just asked for another Q, since we had lots of them available.

    I imagine the answer to that question will focus more along the lines of "Ed Beach wanted to make a Renaissance scenario, so that's where we go the idea for a few of the civs". That's been said elsewhere, and I reckon is how they'd sidestep what might otherwise be a potentially tricky question to answer.
