Asylums and crazed units

In a recent game, I chose the Octopus Overlords religion, and built Asylums in a number of my cities, including ones which I was using to produce units. I got a bit put out when I noticed that many of my new units were coming out with Crazed - then I figured out that the Asylums were the problem (not sure if its an undocumented feature, or whether I just missed it somewhere).

Is there any reliable way to control crazed/engraged units? Or do you just have to put up with the risk of them going barbarian? I generally prefer knowing that my troops are going to stay under my control, so I may avoid building asylums in production cities in future games.

only loyalty spell helps, then they die instead of barbarizing
asylms are for Great Person cities.
 
loyalty works, and they DO NOT die instead of going barb. they just don't go barb. one of the most useful lvl 1 spells if you asked me ( although it is situational )
 
Yeah, I keep thinking about an OO calabim game. Crazed, Burning BLood, Loyal Moroi's sound pretty cool :p.
