Case in point why they changed their name. ;)

Like I just said, it's French, so you wouldn't even pronounce it like it's spelled, but the last letters are silent.

Civ 4 will be made more accessible to the crowd and get a 3D Actionmode with Roleplaying elements. :)

    No, just kidding.

The big question is: WHO bought the rights for the civilization series?

Not really. I do have some sort of mental impairment/cognitive dysfunction/whatever that causes me to make reading mistakes like that, which I subsequently cannot spot unless someone points them out to me. It's part of the reason I had extra tuition in Swedish back in elementary school.

You wouldn't believe how long it took before I realized that there's no 'E' in "SVGA" ...

I used to think it was Infogames too, until a few years back.

Well, as long as they didn't/don't sell it to Electronic Arts who then in turn shuts it down like they did with Subspace, we should be fine.

I don't think EA is interested. The sales of the Civ series to date just aren't in the league they want.

Firaxis hasn't announced a date yet, but my guess is late 2005.

It would be great if Firaxis bought the rights....

PS: Moved this thread to Civ3 General from OT.

Considering that we know they have started work on CivIV, it'd be a good hypothesis to make that they bought it.

I sure as hell hope Firaxis did so...

$23 million dollars - That's a lot of cash considering the sales of the Civ series.

I hear rumors that it was not Firaxis though...

Dang. :( Lets hope the rumors are false.
I don't think I'd trust any other company with Civ.
After all, they've been the developers for Civ for years.

I just pray to god EA doesn't buy them. Activision or someone like that might be alright, but god no not EA.

Truth is, I bought it. I've been saving up my allowance for years now, and it was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my wife. I can't believe they ruined the surprise by doing a press release!

"Hey honey, I bought you Civilization for Christmas."
"Oh really, I heard that game was good."
"Yeah, I got a great deal on it, it was only 25 million!"

You should drop by the forums more often Dan. :)
