ATI support and only 5 mins of play allowed

When i bought civ4 i received the rendor error problem, having followed the instructions and downloaded new drivers i began to play the game.

Now whenever i turn my computer on the screen opens with an ATI folder with the support folder inside.

When i begin to play the game i can play for about 5 minutes before the monitor turns off and the power button begins to flash. I can't get the screen back on unless i turn the whole system off and on again.

Any ideas whats going wrong and how to fix it???

Psot your dxdiag and we'll have a look

click start, run, type, dxdiag and the save all information
then add it via the go advanced button below

Load up Patch V1.52

Its 44 Mb so if on dial up - set it running and go to bed ....

Your active part of the pagefile is large - 398Mb, if the game was running, post again without it running. If no other application was running on the desktop, blat all services (less essential XP ones) and all startup items in MSConfig (stay off line as this will hit any auto startup of Anti-V and Firewall.

Try the game again

If still issues (or dont know how to do the MSconfig thing) post again

sorry, but not sure about blat all services and msconfig thing.

i do have the 1.52 patch downloaded but the problem still arises

click start, run, type msconfig and press enter
then click on startup, then disable all, apply then close.
