Axis & Allies type scenario in game or mod?

I loved playing that board game back in the day. I know the game mechanics probably can't be duplicated exactly, but is there a mod or scenario out there that comes close?

The Axis & Allies PC version just isn't cutting it for me

I think there is a mod like that in the Completed Scenarios section. Or maybe in the Completed Mod Pack section.
