The Nationalist Legion (aka. General Franco's highly anti-communist Army during the Spanish Civil War and until the late 50s). Not only was the Spanish army under the Generalisimo harnessed with German equipment, yet did 48000 Spanish troops "volunteer" to join the "Blue Division" (División Azúl) fight next to their Axis allies on the Russian front against the common enemy. This unit is the first of a row of common based early 20th century infantry, comprising WWII and the interwar periods

Ive always thought that a WWII scenario should start early, people tend to think of the whole diplomatic situation of WWII as being predetermined; Its just not so, many of the diplomatic events of the time were just incompresensible to many on all sides, The germans were astounded that the british fought against them, the allies were dismayed by the non agression pact between germany and the russians, and nobody expected the germans to actualy go ahead with attacking (and beating the french) so raedily. The alliance between britain, america and Russia would have been highly unlikely; None of these events are totaly random, they are dependant on cause and effect and none were predetermined by fate.
