B_01 - Cowboy Diplomacy

We might want to try to grab that iron to the south-southwest quickly if we ever find horses. If we don't find horses I think that we can safely assume that we are done for.

Ok, i hope you guys arent mad, but i went a few turns to test my own lil Philo on the horses spot and if someone will go down there, we shall "ride".

That's great news :bounce: :bounce:

However do you think you could please keep the spoiler information to yourself in the future?

ok got it. I would've checked there next on my turn anyway, since it's a nice gap of unexplored terrian right next to us :mischief:

good job exploring everyone that played before me. It seems we don't really *need* military with all this great land before us to settle on. Grass, plains, forrests, and hills...mmm...

1250 Momentous occasion occurs in 1250bc when a newly created settler steps onto a mountain and beholds in the distance...
1225 meh...

- Even though we will now have horses there is still *a lot* of room for more cities. I think we have 4 cities with granaries that need to focus on workers/settlers with horses in between builds.
- Also, I don't know how much marketplaces will matter right now as we have no luxuries in our area. :(
- I am building 2 galleys. Make one go East and the other West to circle this land.

Got it. I'll see if I can't get us both the horses AND iron.

on the spoiler info, we were going there anyway, and well there was no horses anywhere, so theyd have to be there obviously. Its just exp.

Turn log:

Turn 0 (1225 B.C.)

Nothing

IBT

Russians extort Philo, I have to cave since we have 0 military.

Turn 1 (1200 B.C.)

Far-West builds settler, start on worker.

Turn 2 (1175 B.C.)

Moving units around, nothing much else.

Turn 3 (1150 B.C.)

Dodge City builds galley, start on settler. Finally horses is founded.

Turn 4 (1125 B.C.)

Spain completes the Oracle, Ottomans start TOA. Kansas City founded.

Turn 5 (1100 B.C.)

Littlehouseontheprarie and Far-West both build workers. Far-West starts walls, Littlehouseontheprarie starts granary. Rename Littlehouseontheprarie to Reno so that we don't have to type such long names ;)

Turn 6 (1075 B.C.)

Dodge City gets unhappy, try increasing lux, but it turns out that lux would have to go to 40% to make the happy/unhappy balance out, so hire a clown there.

IBT

The momentous occasion has finally happened:

Turn 7 (1050 B.C.)

Change a bunch of granary build to horsemen.

Turn 8 (1025 B.C.)

Golden Lands builds settler, start on horseman.

Turn 9 (1000 B.C.)

Iroquois finish Colossus.

Turn 10 (975 B.C.)

Moving units.

Notes to next player:

Settler should settle on spot to claim the iron. COL due in 1 turn, I would go for either of the government tech's next. We might want to consider Monarchy instead of Republic because we are going to be fighting a lot of wars in the not too distant future. We are on tech parity or ahead of all civ's that we have met.

The Save

Kansas City:

World at the end of my turnset:

We still have tons of room for expansion. I would chop the forests by Kansas City to help build granary there.

Oh yeah:dance::clap::drool::hatsoff:

Oh, and thanks for Northern Canada, this town will be like the best place to have a beer for the retired cowboys. There'll be all kinds of far left hand socialists whining at the government for not doing everything for them all the time, but hey, it's still good to be there.

I guess we now have the choice between building our territory stiffer in or expanding further SE and SW ... I'd roll a dice, and do the other one after.

Got it, will play immediately

Roster:
- Beorn <- up (hey that's me !)
- BigNHuge <- On deck
- Meteor Punch
- Abegweit
- General Mayhem

Alright, we do need horses, so low food output cities will focus on MP while we keep making granaries and settlers to populate the land.
I'd take monarchy, because the wars we'll be fighting will probably be long and tiring. You won't see me say that often, so take pictures: republic might not be the wise choice here.

Name back on LittleHouseOnThePrairie, let's just nickname it Lil'.

Turn 1
Found 2BucksAPintDraft:barracks by the iron to the west. Slowly bring back all scouts: 6/7 civilisations met is good enough for me.
Northern canada changed from galley to Granary, worker sent from irrigating tobacco (?) to road/work Kansas City.
90/0/10 for Monarchy in 23.

Turn 2
Dodge City Settler-> Horseman. Ottomans decalre war on us ! I take it they want to buy alphabet with this war (dumbasses still speak with grunts). 90/10/0 budget.

Turn 3
Some horsemen raid on nearby Otto warriors. Strider has been found in the montains by an Otto warrior, so he is running northwest to Rohan. Monarchy in less turns as it goes and population increases (14 now).
Cannot buy MA against Ottos with mongols and India because it would end our deficit research, and trust me we need to get out of this scrap they call despotism.

Turn 4
Abu demands and is celined. Lil' Horse->rax. Golden lands horse->Horse.
Found Fort Miliwaukee at the ottoman border as a decoy for their troops to go there - and a good worker pump city for later, with a grassland game.

Turn 5
Far-West Settler->Settler, Horsetownvilleburg Horseman->Barracks.

Turn 6
Sugarville Settler->worker.

Turn 7
Lil' rax->Horseman.

Turn 8
Horseman takes out an archer but has 1hp left and there's an otto warrior right by ... he might be our first casualty.

Turn 9
Dodge City Settler-> Granary, Iron city rax->Horse.
Found 2 cities that start off on temple, as a placeholder to whichever comes first: marketplaces, libraries, granaries... Buffalo, and Wings.
Sign peace for what gold they have.

Turn 10
Found Hartford by the Whales (tiny bit of NHL nostalgy here).

To the next dude in line:
We have no luxury, so what I'd do is make MP from barracks town and workers from granary towns. We'll need a better economics so I'd head for currency next.
The east is fully settled, so what we're up to next is westwards expansion and some backfilling (we could use a good 3-4 towns inside our borders, and one between Hartford and Fort Miliwaukee).
Don't you think it would be wise to go conquer whoever gets ToA, if he's a neighbor? Or the pyramids ?

Anyways, here's the picture, with spots of where I think of when I mean backfilling and expanding west. Light blue and dark green would pretty much only be coastal gold cities, but those are good with the low incomes of monarchy.

As for the FP, I haven't started it out just yet because we need a whole lot of roads and MP before we can spare a city for that many turns. I guess a few peaceful turns will help us build up MP in key towns and focus on workers for a while.

Roster:
- Beorn <- Just ****ed us all up to fiery doom
- BigNHuge <- UP
- Meteor Punch <- On deck
- Abegweit
- General Mayhem

OK, first off, were not fd to a fiery doom, i rather like our "underdog" image.
Also, I CANT BELIEVE THE COWBOY NAMES PEOPLE HAVENT USED
I.E.
Ponderosa
San Francisco
Dallas
The Alamo
Jeez, get in the cowboy names, (P.S. our first military GL is gonna have to be either John Wayne or Marshall Matt Dillon
Not a got it till tomorrow, RL with school, ill be up in two tomorrow, the other goes first though, sry.

I'll take the suggestions, I'm not all too knowledgeable in cowboyness, it just seemed to be a cool pretext for a variant. Re-name cities all you want, it's all good.

Oh and we're actually not f'd at all, we're ahead and everything ... I just volunteer to be the guy whose fault it is if we do f'k it up ;) Only thing that would set us back the least bit is military power, but we're catching up mighty quick, and once we're back up it will be with fresh troops, no useless warriors and spearmen.

Roster:
- Beorn <- Will take the blame and some chicken wings while he's at it
- BigNHuge <- Holding a turn (On deck then) or 2
- Meteor Punch <- Up
- Abegweit <- On deck if BNH skips 2 turns
- General Mayhem

do you guys think we should revolt to monarchy? i can trade to get it. I think Rep would be better for us though. what do you all think?

(why does govnt choice always land on me in SG's :hmm: )

We are going to be doing a TON of warring in the not so distant future, I think the cheaper units and no war-weariness of Monarchy will help us more. By the time we have to stop warring democracy/communism/facism will probably be avaliable.
