I will need three or four players on this one, maybe more if everyone choosen agrees.

The specs on the map is:

Map Size: Standard
Barbarians: Restless
Maptype: Pangaea (60% water, the one with most land)
Climate, Temperature and Age: Random
Playing Civ: Babylon
Cpu Civs: 5
Difficulty: Monarch

I have started the game and it seems we start int the northwest top of the map. We have only ocean north of the capital and grasslands and plains south of it, and the chinese started pretty close.

The rules for playing this game.

- No saving and loading, if you loose a battle or a city, then it's lost.
- If you can't play, notify us quickly so that someone else can play for you.
- When your done playing, post the save quickly on this thread.
- When you have played you should tell the other players what you have done in a good storytelling way. And maybe tip the next player what your plan is for the next couple of turns.
- When you play, you should only play 20 turns or less, unless that limit has been rissen or lowered.

That's all the rules for now...

Well the one who goes after me gets a newly built settler to play around with.

Well here comes my story for the first 1000 years.

4000 BC A 50 year long journey starts to locate a place to build the capital city close to fresh water.

3950 BC The training of a warrior is initiated. And our working force is ordered to build a road. Our sages hopes to figure out a way to hunt from a distance.

3900 BC The construction of the first babylonian mine is started.

3700 BC The first troops have been trained. They are ordered to scout the mountain and beyond.

3500 BC The mine is completed and it promises to bring lots of rich materials.

3450 BC The production is changed from settler to spearman, becuase of the city's high productivity. Our workers start to build a road. And our warrior spots cows on the field, and a nearby village.

3400 BC Our warrior sees another freindly village, and is on its way to visit them. A spearman is trained in babylon. It is sent down south towards the first village.

3300 BC The road is finished. And to make the babylonians happy the emperor issues his workers to build a road to the nearby areas where there is supose to be minks. The residents of Babylon wants fur.

3250 BC Our warrior visits the village and the local men wants to join our country. And they give us a conscript warrior. At the same time our spearman visits the other village, but it is ambushed and is under attack.

3200 BC Our spearman survives the attack and gains alot of experience, they are now an elite force of our army. Our warrior notice an neighboring country and that it has ivory.

3150 BC We have contacted our neigbours, and they calls themselves Chinese. They seem to be technologycally advanced and does'nt want to trade techs with us. They also outnumber our military forces.

3100 BC Our sages have learned the secrets of Warrior Code. Finally we can build bows and train Bowmen. And the sages are now trying to figure out a way to store food. Our Spearman discovers wheat south of Babylon.

3050 BC We contact the Englishmen via a warrior in the chinese territory. And just as we became technocally equalls with the Chinese, we discovers that the English knows much more than we.

3000 BC The babylon Emperor known to the world as "Grey Fox" ends his reign, and his only son becomes emperor.

The one who will continue and play the next 20 turns will notice that i have a settler ready for you. You should build it near the cow or try to block the Chinese from taking our territory.

here is a picture of the game so far:

A tip: Build mines on the grassland, irrigation is useless in the beginning, when using despotism. Becuase you can't have more then two food/shields on one area in despotism.

I can play starting tomorrow. Its 10:40 here so ill be going to dreamland. I can usually play at 4:00 my time. I have never played monarch yet but I will try hard. I played deity on civ II. I think I could help out if u will accept me. I can start tomorrow.

Do you master regent difficult level?

If you do, the next step is Monarch.

Well, we will make a scheme tomorrow, and see how many that are interested.

And by the way were are you from?

Here is a picture I made some days ago as help for myself, when placing cities, this system is kindof ultimate for space using. But it has to be changed, when u think about the coastlines, mountains, resources and so fourth...

I forgot, press Ctr-G to see the Grid, it helps when placing cities.

Well then the current list of players are:

Grey Fox
Thiazi
gonzo_for_civ

And we will play in that order from now on

so the next player is:

Grey Fox
--> Thiazi
gonzo_for_civ

Well then the new current list of players are:

Grey Fox
Thiazi
gonzo_for_civ
Silverblade

And we will play in that order from now on

so the next player is:

Grey Fox
--> Thiazi
gonzo_for_civ
Silverblade

Let me know if you need a 5th.

I'm experienced at succession games and usually play Monarch level with a few forays into Emperor.

Would love to join up.

Very well, Kev is the last player in this game. So that means the game is full.

I have changed the order for playing because Thiazi and gonzo doesn't seem to have been active lately...

I know Silverblade will play the game right away so Kev your next after him. So please keep up the pace, and play as quickly as possible, there is no time limit in my rules but, I would prefer if you would finish in 24 hours or less. Preferable much less :) .

This is the new order

Grey Fox
--> Silverblade
Kev
Thiazi
gonzo_for_civ

2950 BCA settler is built. The son of "Grey Fox", Silverblade decides to train Bowmen in Babylon.

2850 BC The City of Silver Forest is built in the glory of the new emperor Silverblade. The city is garrisoned by the elite spearmen. The Chinese get annoyed and forces us to remove our
our warrior from their territory. A temple is under construction in Silver Forrest.

2800 BC Our warriors begins a long journey west and south. Our worker begins the construction of a road to the Silver Forrest.

2750 BC The new Emperor grows tired of the chinese presence and demands of the sages that they develop anew type of weapon. Babylon start researching towards Iron Working.

2670 BC The Emperors road between Babylon and Silver Forrest is completed. And the newly founded city enjoys the exotic luxuries.

2630 BC In the capital, Bowmen are trained. And are now the Emperors personal guard. Near the city of Silver Forrsest, water is drawn from the river to the plains.

2510 BC Our capital is growing, and the emperor decides to start the construction of a granary.

2470 BC The foolish Chinese builds a city near the precious cows to our south. What he does'nt know is that it is a declaration of war.

2390 BC A new company of Bowmen are completed, and the city continues to train these great soldiers. A granary is built in the Silver Forrest, many slaves diesduring the process. The emperor needs gold so he raises the tax-rate by 20%.

2350 BC A deal is made between us and the Persians. We give them Pottery and Ceremonial Burial + 2 gold, and they give us The wheel and Masonry.

2310 BC A warrior joins the defensive forces of Silver Forrest.

2270 BC Our worker builds Irrigation. The Empire moves troops in attacing position, a war against the Chinese is declared.

2230 BC The secret of Iron Working is discovered. Our attack against Canton failed. It seems we overestimated our advantage. The Chinese warriors ran over our Bowmen scratchless.

2190 BC A Bowmen is built in Babylon.

2150 BC A road is completed.

Well, the only thing to concentrate on now is destroying the Chinese, thats our only hope. I made a foolish attack losing one Bowman against a Warrior and declaring war at the same time, but I actually thought I would win. We might wanna build one more city before concentrating on only War units, but then they will face the vengeance of the Mighty Babylon Empire!

Here comes an image over the situation:

I will download and play this evening.

Egads, we are in a tough situation against the militaristic Chinese. I also don't see any iron in our area. This could be touchy.

If we win a battle with one of our bowmen, it'll send us into a golden age very early - and with only 2 or 3 cities. But I agree the Chinese are a threat and must be dealt with immediately. Perhaps the Persians will join us - though I worry about their immortals causing problems to us later.

If I can get peace after a bit, it may be possible to get inexpesive babylonian libraries and temples up and culture grab a few cities.

Hey, it'll be a challenge.

Well it looks like trouble indeed. A war with the chinese... well I think that's what we had coming... but we have Bowmen... a great advantage. One win with them and we get our golden age. The good buy Chinese.

The current player is Kev, that means Thiazi or Gonzo is next... the first one of you to report gets to be next. Hurry up we might get crushed by the chinese. (Don't worry Kev I have all faith and trust in you, it was just to motivate the troops...)

Current Player

Grey Fox

Well, I'm really looking forward to my turn, this seems to be a real challange.

Well I hope everyone has tried the game by the end of the night...

It's 07:32 PM here...

Well, my "tonight" won't start for about 4 or 5 hours yet. I'm on the east coast of the US and it's only 2:20 p.m. right now. The good news is that Thiazi is behind me in time (assuming he's actually IN Arizona), so we could get both of our turns in tonight.

Cool. I'll play and post, go watch the show "24", then check in on Thiazi. Succession game bliss. :)

That is, if we survive....

Is anyone playing right now?

I don't think so, Grey. Again, I'll start my turn when I return home about 4 hours from now.

It should actually work out well. Both you and Silverblade are in Sweden while I'm on the east coast and Thiazi is further west. Not sure where gonzo is from, but oour geography should give us a rotating preferred time zone of sorts where one can play right after the other.

Just keep in mind that even in the quickest sucession games there will be times when there are 24-48 hour lapses. It's not the worst thing that could happen. When people take 72 or more hours to play, then cancel, then the team has to wait 24-48 more hours for the next person to jump in, that's when it can get frustrating.

As a side note: for my turn I think we should have some thoughts from the other players. Judging by the situation and the map, here's my "to do" list:

1. For the settler that's about to be completed in Babylon I'd like to move and settle a city slighty southwest of Silver Forest. I see that there are some flood plains there, and some irrigation could make that city a nice despot-rush area. An alternative would be to crush Canton (it will be destroyed if it's still only size 1) and build our own city there. It could give us access to horses which may be our choice of offensive units if we cannot find iron.

2. Once the settler is built in Babylon, I would like to shore up its defenses and then build some culture there. The Babylonian civ makes rushing culture an option, and with Canton so close we may eventually take it over with culture.

3. I would like to go after the Chinese capital. First because it is likely going to be large enough so we may be able to keep it. It's well-developed and could provide some decent production after the resistance is done. Further, it would move their capital to a less-centralized city for them. It would move the capital further from cities like Canton which may make it easier to absorb them with culture.

I probably won't even have the chance to do ALL of that in my 20 turns, but it's where I'd like to steer. Possibilites also exist regarding having the Persians get involved.

What other suggestions does the team have?

Well I think it's a good idea. But I'm not sure about that culture thing.

When we have taken Canton by culture, China will have at least 4-5 new cities.

I liked that with the horses better. We should crush or take the Canton city and rush as many horses we can and try to be freinds with the Persians. I havn't seen the persian area, but it seems like a big place for only them to play around with. We should take it from them when they sleep. (A right of passage deal maybe...)

Well I have made a strategic map on some things you sad and somethings I came up with. Here it is:

babylon2.jpg

Firstly we have to take out the chinese archer in the woods, this could be risky, because he is fortifying and he is in the woods.

But we should make it with the 2 bowmen we have... after the settler it might be wise to build the Barracks (if no exist) or build settlers as fast as possible and make the Bowmen in Silver Forrest.

The Yellow Lines are Top priority, and where the Blue and the White dots are, I think we should build our cities... (Should we raze Canton if we get an option?)

The Blue one will be the horse city and also a harbor city on the eastern coast. These two towns are planned so that both get a cow from the beginning without any culture buildings. And planning some space for them to use in the future.

I don't know if we should build the blue or white city first.
Team voting maybe...

The Green arrows ar secondary city targets, which could be built at the same time as the invasion of China, if we don't need that many soldiers. And if Silver Forrest can produce settlers.

The red dot is the primary objective when it comes to the secondary targets, after that is the orange, and then the green.

The green city can also be moved if the majority wants so...
But my main argument for that city is that it gets a 50% defensive bonus on the hill, and it's still on the river, no aqueduct. And last, you can't improve the land the city lies on, and production isn't the main priority for that city.

As you can notice I have also painted a blue line North. A city could be built there when everything is Cool and we have crushed the Chinese.

I know that the english is east of the Chinese, we can contact them for territory map and help, but we should leave them out of it. And the Persians seems quite lonely down south. The should be te next target.

As you can see Grey have outlined a nice strategy for us all.
The illustration shows it really cleary how we think the nearest time should be played. Of course if anyone have some another better idea I would like to here about it.

The race we are playing are religous as a fanatic sunday school boy that goes to church every single day. Well, the question is should we build a lot of culture or should we wipeout the annoying chinese people? I think the last alternative is best for ower expansion right now. So continue build up the army.

I agree with totally with Kev that we should consider the chinese a serious threat, that race needs to be terminated.

- More warfare to the middle east and we have a nice WWIII
