Welcome to the experiment that is Classic NESing. I am Big Nasty, your moderator through the world created by my partners in crime, the world’s leaders.
First, I am going to describe classic NES simply in about 5 lines:
1. Going back to a map that hasn’t been used in a long time.
2. Clutter of army units, economy of numbers, and strict follow history is out the window, and left to the imaginations of the stories.
3. Simple country breakdowns, where the color is more important than the country name.
4. War, peace, War, Diplomacy, War, Epic Alliances, everything depends on the mood of the day, or flame.
5. Rants about nothing, Board Moderator changes, all out good fun, take nothing personal.
Countries Guidelines:
- Country has to at least semi-exist. Meaning if you change the name, it has to be a clever play on the nationality, but that nationality needs to exist post 1946. IE there is no room for elves and ogres here.
- Historical realism ends at 1946. We are creating new allies, new wars, new treaties, new hate, new everything.
- You are allowed to post anything in your stories, except doing something to someone or something without consent of that party. I am very serious about this; you cannot just up and kill leaders without approval. Other than that you are allowed to write about changes, orders, anything until I say stop.
- Try and keep it clean, I see some under 18 crowd, so keep the crude humor low, get clever with it.
- If you are communicating in secret, I only need to know about final details to update on. Do NOT keep me in the loop; remember I’m playing as the NPC’s.
Map
- Will not show troop movements, will not show rivers, WTF does it matter where rivers are, Will be only the colors, and borders of the nations. Pretty much it other than just seeing it
Military
- You have an army, army size, and that’s it. Any uniqueness will be drawn up in your writings, and if done well and right, will give upper hand in circumstantial events.
- Navy, you have one, you have the size from me, and that’s it, same goes as above.
- Air Force, same as above
- Remember your population when deciding where and when to put your forces into the 3 wings. I have ultimate decision if I think we’re getting unfair, and may change to a numeric system as we progress.
Population
- Will get a size, and is a deciding factor on things like army. Can’t fight with what you don’t have. Also just “building” a population is not good enough, it takes 18 years for civilized countries to make warriors, remember that, if it was me, I would make them fight younger and face the ethical countries with fist, but that’s me.
Economy
- I give you your economy, in increments as follows
- Anarchy-Depression-Recession-Inflation-Growing-Prosperous-Warmachine
- We can make this up as we go, but obviously you cannot grow things like your army, or population base unless this is good. I will be throwing wrenches into the mix to make this an actual trait worth something.
Updates
- Right now lets shoot for every 2-3 days, or if posting dies down. I do not want this to be people’s obsessions and posting or needing to post everyday to be successful or have fun, so that’s a good enough number.
- 2-3 days = 2-3 years
- I will be pulling snippets from posts to create our history, as well as world events like weather, economy depressions, famine that sort of thing.
- I am expecting orders, sent by PM of behind the scenes actions of the country. You will have your personal face to me and a public face in the story writing, just like any country, and NES for that matter.
- What that means is if you put something publicly in posts, I do not need them in orders, what you say, IE public denouncement of military actions, will be taken at that face value, and considered just public orders.
I hope this is successful, I know actually it will be, and again we are striving for realistic, but not historical. Anything from this point on that is vague or unclear is intentional to try and drive creativity. No only means no if I say it’s so, so if I’m not telling you no, it’s fair game. I am a moderator, not a narrator, I will not be telling the story, you will be. My updates are just that, updates.
I am not the ruler of this thread, what I mean by this, if something doesn’t work, or someone has a problem, we vote on it. Majority rules to keep the thread alive, period.
