is the a way to backup a dvd movie on to a hard disk and view it with windvd 4

i do have the acutal dvds i am not using it to pirate it's as th dvds are expensive and i dont whant the damaged.

DVDs are copy-protected with CSS, you need program that rips these DVDs to hard-drive like SmartRipper: http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/smart-ripper.html

note: this is completely legal, as long as you use it only to rip your own DVDs to Hard-Drive...

can it then be played on windvd 4? nothing else i have tryed can be played on windvd4

it should, it runs on my WinDVD 4.5. It should basically run on any halfway decent DVD-Player
