There is this weird glitch in my game, I dont know if anyone else has this, but sometimes my settlers and workers, instead of being called just settlers and workers, they're called barbarian workers or barbarian settlers. Does anyone know what triggers this or why it happens?:crazyeye:

I seem to recall hearing that. Did you get the settle from a hut? Did you capture a settler that the AI got from a hut?

Are you the mayans, and did you join barbarian slaves into a city and then build settlers and workers in that city?? If so, then, IIRC, the name of them will be "barbarian _____"

Barbarian chiefdom? I think that's the word

BTW, I wouldn't join slave barb workers to my cities... not anymore :p They're always unhappy, complaining about the attack against their mother country. Isn't it strange? I though barbarians were nomads... how can a nomad have a country? Must be because they're always enemies, but even if all the land is owned ad there's no room for barbs, they'll still complain

Never join any barb workers or any other slaves to cities. Those are free units with no upkeep cost.

IIRC, only the Demo/Fascism, and Replaceable Parts bonuses apply.

And they're also 50% slower. I'd rather pay six of my own workers to clear pollution, than order 12 slaves do the same thing.

Why? 12 slaves in a stack work at the same speed as 6 workers in a stack.
Except that the 12 slaves cost 0 upkeep and the 6 workers cost 12 upkeep (I'm assuming republic)

BTW, do Industrial/Demo/Fascism/Replaceable Parts speed bonuses apply to slave workers?

Yes, they do! all 4 of them, plus the anarchy penalty.

No, I'm positive that when in anarchy, all workers work at the same speed: at the normal slave speed.

Quoted for truth. I never understood why people whine about the speed of free workers. They're FREE.

I captured workers and settelers that I think the AI got from a hut. It never does that when I get a setteler or a worker from a hut.

I'm pretty sure the industrious bonus applies, too, but only if the civ from which the slave is taken had the bonus. If an American captures, say, a Babylonian worker, the Bab worker does not get the industrious bonus. If the Babs captured the American, though, it would, correct? Can someone verify that?

No, I don't think so. At least, AFAI(recall,) I don't remember a slave ever working at anything better than 50% until I changed government to Demo/Fascism, or until I got replaceable parts.

I suspect these are the same types who don't stack multiple workers together.

:sarcasm: "Oh, but the developers didn't want players to use worker stacks, because the AI never uses worker stacks, and it imbalances the game so much."
