Barbarians

    I'm loving this mod. The quality of life improvements to the UI are just great. The tech tree makes me think a lot harder as to what path to take.

    But one thing I'm struggling with is the barbarians seem as hard as nails and a lot of them too. To the point where I'm struggling to get my settlers out to claim ground, even when escorted by groups of warriors.

    As I'm fairly new to Civ4, I've played through a couple of games of vanilla BtS at chieftain difficulty. Now I'm using this mod I thought I'd start another game at chieftain but boy the barbs are pinning me down.

    Interestingly, and I don't know whether it's connected, when I hover over chieftain option on the game setup screen (see attached image), it does warn me about the wild animals and barbs. So it may be that the barbs are like this by design but they seem way harder and more plentiful than the vanilla BtS run throughs I've done. And it's seems way harder than it should be for such an easy difficulty level.

    Barbarians are stronger overall in HR, yes. I may have overdone it for the lower difficulty levels though, I'll look into it. That tooltip is comparing Chieftain difficulty to Settler difficulty, which was removed in HR.

    Brilliant, thanks for the information and let me know if you plan to make any balance changes for the easier difficulties. I'll try better spawn busting techniques. P.s. I love the music, reminds me of Civ2 which feels very nostalgic to me.
