Basic info on modding C4Col

Does anyone know where I can find some basis information on modding Col specific items? Example - I'd like to implement the concept of apprentice to replace schools since learning a trade like lumberjack or carpenter was not something that happened in school but actually in the forest or the lumbermill - so the concept would be that if a colonists worked in a lumbermill for x turns they could become a carpenter ... maybe half the turns if an expert carpenter was also working there. Trouble is I can't find where the ability to learn is defined in the xml files.:confused:

I've been playing and modding C4 for a while but mostly just changing xml files and maps. Is there a guide or WIKI on how C4Col sets these types of parameters and controls?

Any help will be appreciated.:)
