Battle of the Browsers!

Why don't you just download it onto your computer at school? Half the computers in our computer labs have firefox on them. Hell, I downloaded two programs used to take over computers and bypass the password restrictions. ;) Makes boring class time go away.

My main problem with IE is that all the pop-up blockers that I tried for it are not very effective... With Mozilla, pop-ups (and take-over ads) are no problem. That's why I use Mozilla Firefox.
If you download the update for IE, then a rather effective pop-up blocker comes with it.
It's like downloading the first ever version of Firefox, then complaining that it is crap and useless.

As I said I can't respond to the security hole thing, but i've never had any probelms :p
this forum isn't where you be a naggy ass, it's where YOU HELP PEOPLE
I am helping you. I'm showing you that you are wasting your time trying to get your browser changed at school :p Which makes life good for LLXerxes, as you have more time. woot

er, you get a 5 day suspension if you dl anything on the school computers.

Since I never actually answered LLXerxes' question in my earlier posts to this thread, I suppose I should actually answer his question.

Though I disagree with Gainy Bo over whether IE is a good web browser, I agree that you probably won't get anywhere trying to convince the sysadmin to switch the web browsers.
Basically, I see two possibilities:
1) The sysadmin is competant, in which case he knows how to decently secure Internet Explorer (it won't be perfect, because not all vulnerabilities can be worked around in the security settings, but IE can be made somewhat secure by turning off enough "features." In this case, he probably wouldn't want to switch browsers, because of the work he has put into securing IE, and the fact that, because of the work he put into it, the security issue isn't large enough for him to consider switching browsers.
2) The sysadmin is incompetant*, in which case, he probably hasn't secured Internet Explorer, but any argument to convince him to switch browsers wouldn't work because he doesn't care.
Either way, you can try (and I do suggest trying, you might get lucky), but I don't think it'll make it far.

*Note that I am not calling your sysadmin incompetant. I don't know him, I'm just trying to cover all possibilities.

he said he has some sort of firewall. plus he doesn't want to have to change it for every computer, because that would take too much time.
welcome to america, baby!

The reason that I am so outrageously loyal to Firefox is because I was locked out of CFC because of the takeover ad in IE a while ago (as I'm sure CT, GA and Anarchy remember).

Also, don't use Firefox for the security, use it for tabbed browsing. Why does it matter what other people at your school use? If it really bothers you, ask if you can download Firefox on one of the computers.

I'd rather have the blocks tken off IE at my school. Not for porn, but sometimes I want to play games.
