BE won't start

I installed BE last week no problem. I've been playing the game for a week. Last night I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Total, I click on BE to start a game, I get the window with the option to start Beyond Earth or Beyond Earth - mantle.

I select the first option, and the game doesn't start, it just opens up the first window window again, BE or BE - mantle.

Any thoughts?

Since you upgraded your OS, I recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the game. Please post again if you need advice on how to do so. If that doesn't help, please post your DxDiag.txt file. Here's how to create the file:

Hit the "Windows key" and "R", type in Dxdiag, hit enter. A menu will appear, with a save option at the right bottom. Save the file and attach it here. This provides us with essential information about your system.
