This is why it's much safer to work the clam than the beaver. You'll grow your population much bigger over a shorter period of time without running the risk of being eaten by a cougar.

A quick search of the internet has shown me that Beavers are in sharp decline. The Brazillian Beaver is apparently almost extinct.

I don't really know what I'm doing here, but if I managed to post the correct save here, then all can see how cruel, ironic, and karmic the civ gods are.

    lol!

Seriously, (if that's still possible anyway  ) beavers aren’t broken. Sure, you may get an advantage with them in this instance, but how often does this happen? The land around beavers normally sucks and being at a pole you can only expand one way, making it easier for the AI to box you in. Also, if you had picked a civ that started without hunting, would the start still have been as good?

Ok, now this qualifies as the most broken start ever. I've played 90 rounds through it, and I was 5 techs ahead of everyone else, including tech-whores, on Monarch !

Yeah this starting site is sick!!!! All riverside gems and enough food to work it all. Cottage the whole damn BFC and you will be so far ahead it ain't funny anymore. My first win on monarch was with Shaka and also had 3 gems in the BFC. The game was too easy :) The start from the warlord is nice to btw.

This is perhaps the funniest thread on this entire website.

:bump: In honor of the new Beaver-thread going on (please notice that this one didn't go down hill until post #10), I'll necro this one for a laugh. I still think this was a hilarious thread.

I swear all my posts are going to be these silly questions, but... what is BFC? >.<

Big Fat Cross = BFC = the area of a city's workable tiles.

Welcome to the forums, Dude (or Dudette, as the case might be).

No charge. There's also a list of commonly used civ abbreviations and terms in the War Academy, I believe.

    “I’ve got some scotch.”
    “Single malt?”
“Aged 18 years. The way I like it.”
