bed_01 - Commercialistic English

All resources can be gotten to somehow... (Even changed some volcanos and mountains in original map to make some whales/fish reachable)

What a nice guy! Maybe I should play around in the editor some and figure out how to use it.

Ah, a nice coastal city that can be a 4-turn settler factory (of the 4-6 variety, if I'm not mistaken), right where we stand.

But however will we get that second whale?
There might be land to the northwest of it.

I'll wait for a fuller roster before commenting further.

You can always get the 2nd whale by settling ontop of the sw cow..

I didnt move or add those food resources btw, they were like that originally

No, we wouldn't want to do that, and that is why he added the laughing smilie. And as TimBentley pointed out, there might be land to the northwest that could grab the whale in its radius.

Okay then, glad you could join. We might have to turn this into a 20k if there is ivory around (check out LulThyme's HoF thread).

Yeah I have lots of spare time these days, and Ive being doing 20k s for weeks on ends so Im looking for a change, and this game looks like fun.
Never played the English much but always wanted to because of their crazy commerce.

About the whale, if you look very carefully, their is coast on the other side, so even on a random map that would be hope from access from another island...
But since the map designer is with us we have certainty it seems :)

When, as a team, do you think we should consider going ahead and playing with only four? I do not want interest to wane because it takes forever to to get the game going.

Someone could join soon before the game has gone on too long. Starting the game now would be fine. I see no reason why the settler should move. Getting a curragh or two would be good. One cow should be irrigated and the other should be mined.

Ugh.. I had a 2nd look at the save to see if I did all correct, and seems I have misclicked and doubled cost of steam instead of ironclads.. will fix asap and put up a new save..

Edit here is fixed save

Alright then, go ahead and play Hajime. I concur with TB (is that okay?) on tile improvement. We only need 5fpt. Hopefully we will have a bonus grass or two to get a settler factory up and running. A curragh should be built early, maybe even before a warrior if you are comfortable with that. They can move three per turn since we are seafaring, much more effective at meeting others than a warrior would be.

Nope, that sounds fine to me. Though playing as seafaring on an archipelago, it might turn out that we don't even need it.

I'm sorry, Bed.

I should have probably said "I'm going for a research path of Phil, and then going from there with whatever tech is needed most".

In this case, map making is probably needed most. That, or literature - VERY tough call. On this map, if we pull off a GLib, it'll probably result in us getting map making for free the turn of the build.

Bed's call in a PM. Bed: I highly recommend it personally, but it's your decision in the end.
