"Пагоня" (by Maksim Bahdanovič)

Старадаўняй Лiтоўскай Пагонi

За тваiмi дзяцьмi ўздагон,
Прадалi i аддалi ў палон?

Бiце ў сэрцы iх - бiце мячамi,

Старадаўняй Лiтоўскай Пагонi

When I feel the fear
Of my Motherland in my heart -
I start to remember a Gate Of Dawn
And warriors on the mighty steeds.

Running steeds in white foam
Lead, head, breath heavy...
Nothing can stop, beat & crush down
The Lithuanian Pagonya (a Chase).

You run to the faraway,
And the years go ahead & behind you.
Whom do you chase,
On what ways?

Belarus, maybe they chase
Your children,
Which forgot you, rejected you,
Sold you & betrayed you?

Stab them into their hearts with your swords,
Let there be no betrayers among your children.
Let them feel the heartache
About the Motherland...

My dear Mother, my dear Motherland!
There's nothing to heal this pain.
Forgive me, let me be your true son,
Let me die for you!..

And I still see these steeds,
Loudly thundering with the silver harness...
Nothing can stop, beat & crush down
The Lithuanian Pagonya.

Don't you think so?

It was so. But after the voting this anthem & flag were been changed to the "the sunset over the marsh" (red over green).

In one of the topics EN-speakers (I do respect these people) asked to speak EN, because it's hard to recognize sometimes where BY/UA/RU ends & EN begins. :) Sometimes I still (it's one of my favourite literature creations) write in RU/BY, but rare. Other forumers have the right to understand us. :)

Now that you say it, I didn't get the last sentence before "Don't you think so ?" :D
A small remark: please don't quote such a long answer! If it gets quoted back then you have the first page of your thread with only three posts, each one foot long
BTW another nice Flag-LH and a very nice preview :)

Well, it's better than "Not Glory, Not Will Did Not Die In Ukraine". At least, the symbol of the running armed horseman brings a positive feeling of the pride instead of negativity "Not... Not... Did not." Don't you think so?

Feel free to ask me about translation if needed. And I signalize people to use EN, you see.

BTW when you write anthem & flag you mean coat of arms & flag or anthem, coat of arms & flag?;) 'Bout the RU/BY/UA phrases.I saw that forumers wrote phrases by Japanese(or Chinese) characters,Korean letters etc.:confused:May I ask them to translate too?:joke:

Yes, yes, yes - I mixed anthem & coat of arms. :)

No, they were been asked already by other people. So there's no need to ask them once again. :) But in future - yes, we can freely ask them. :)

Thanks for the translation, and yes I had seen that. I wasn't making any kind of criticism anyway :)
Us French people don't use the French language here either, even if many English-talking people know a lot of French expressions like "C'est la guerre" ;)

"Not Glory, Not Will Did Not Die In Ukraine".
I might say, that "Shche ne vmerla Ukraina, ni slava, ni volya," (Ще не вмерла Українa, ні слава, ні воля) means "Ukraine has not yet perished, nor her glory, nor her freedom"
And since this thread has come to put anthems of their countries,I put mine:joke:

"Ukraine's [glory] has not yet perished"

Ukraine has not yet perished, nor her glory, nor her freedom,
Upon us, fellow Ukrainians, fate shall smile once more.
Our enemies will vanish like dew in the sun,
And we too shall rule, brothers, in a free land of our own.

We'll lay down our souls and bodies to attain our freedom,
And we'll show that we, brothers, are of the Cossack nation.

We'll stand, brothers, in bloody battle, from the Syan to the Don,
We will not allow others to rule in our motherland.
The Black Sea will smile and grandfather Dnipro will rejoice,
For in our own Ukraine fortune shall flourish again.

Our persistence and our sincere toils will be rewarded,
And freedom's song will resound throughout all of Ukraine.
Echoing off the Carpathians, and rumbling across the steppes,
Ukraine's fame and glory will be known among all nations.
