Hello,

I would like to try Beyond Earth + dlc rising tides. I have read that seems that there are some stability problems. So, what should be the best way to play to have better perfomance and stability?? Is there any unofficial patch to improve the game (i remember that there are some games where community create one).

My goal is to have a complete game and avoid broken game especially on late turns..

On the other hand and from stability point of view, do you recomend to play vanilla game+dlc or mods?? In case of mods, which ones??

Thanks in advance.

BERT is super stable. Way more so than Civ V. Virtually zero crashes. The only thing it has ever done for me (and it does it every game on huge maps) is the orbital units start flickering once you have a bunch in orbit. And when you load up a game, you will see black as you move around as the textures load. But those are not super distracting to me.

I can vouch for:
1. Playing on Soyez difficulty (or easier). The hardest difficulty shoehorns you into the quickest way to victory. I prefer Soyez with Frenzied Aliens on. You can enjoy the game and pursue victory mostly when you're ready.
2. The Awesome Pods and Ruins mod. It fixes a bunch of quests that were cut for some reason, probably to be introduced in a second exp. Among other things, it also distributes goodie hut rewards to the nearest city as opposed to always going to the capital. It also optionally puts the most powerful ruins behind a quest that feels much better. Cool things like that.

I've been playing a couple times a year (on my 5th time through all the leaders) since it released and that's how I normally play.

Agree w/ @legalizefreedom . Highly recommend using the RT dlc/expansion, making it "BERT".

From a stability point of view, I have not seen many crashes. Specifically, I mean that I have only had two games which crashed out or refused to load the save in the late game.... out of more than 1500 hours played. For these cases, the common factors were a) playing into the late game, close to turn 300 and b) having a large army, standing off (but not fighting) one or more AI with large armies. Too many units, caused an overflow somewhere. In both cases, I went back to an earlier save, declared war, and eliminated a bunch of units and orbital units.

From a feature point of view, I really enjoy the features added in Rising Tide. Aquatic cities are great. Upgrades are tied to affinity gain; they happen to all of your units -- for free! -- and most of the choices feel consequential. I find the tech web interesting, some games choosing one affinity, other games choosing another. I don't find any leader especially overpowered. I like playing at Soyuz difficulty, so that the AI are challenging but beatable. Four of the five vidtory types involve building a victory wonder, which appeals to my play style. I like that subs can sail under the polar ice.

I plan to start playing Awesome Pods and Ruins after I finish my quest to win with every leader for every victory type. Alas, the game doesn't have a major mod along the lines of BUG/BUFFY for Civ4 or Vox Populi for Civ5.
