Finally finished my current game; first one completed since discovering this site and learning what I'd been doing wrong Won by spaceship in 1866, score 3974/198%, with SPOTLESS reputation! (*Warlord, large random map, restless tribes). Could have started tweaking the numbers a little sooner and gotten 4000 and 200% for nice round numbers, but wasn't necessarily playing for high score. Played as Zulus (sorry to whomever out there hates the Zulus), defeated the Indians and English, pummeled the remaining civs into submission (none had even discovered conscription or electricity by end). Could easily have won by conquering much sooner, but was protecting my reputation.

Of course, I immediately stayed up until 1 AM starting a new game on Prince level Vikings on large random, raging hordes, 7 civs. 2600 BC and just ran into the Greeks, who I can trap on a medium-sized peninsula if I move quickly. Lots and lots of plains around my starting area. Should be interesting...

*see post under thread for latest poll for why low game level

Well this is what you should've done, on warlord the AI most likely wouldn't send out a spaceship, so you should've kept you spaceship until 2000AD and then launched it. would've given you more turns to build up your score.Good Job!

SunTzu-I thought about going for the high score, even saved the game before I launched, but really I just wanted to finish the game and get on to Prince level, which I am enjoying and thus far being successful at. Just knowing I COULD have run at a really high score is enough for me, without taking the hours it would take to get there.
