Best version

Dear all,

I'm about to re-buy this game I lost a long time ago. I'd like to know what version you civilization fanatics would advise. I know the Gold Edition is the latest but I've read here and there that the AI is "perpetually unfriendly" with the MGE, so the tweak makes me wonder if I should not buy the "classic" edition instead.

And by the way,

Does those versions run correctly on Vista? I suck in IT, so anything beyond "very simple" to make it work would be a problem.

Which Vista version do you have? I have Vista 32 bit and play the classic version. With Cedric Green's patch I upgraded it to MGE. This way I can play classic and MGE. I know that with Vista 64 bit there are some problems with civ2 to get it running but don't if it's always a problem.

I'm not sure which version of Vista I have but as it's a recent one I assume it's the 64 bit (Where can I check on my computer to be sure?).

If so, there will be no way for me to play Civ 2??

I think you haven't Vista 64b, but 32b.

You can see it in : "Computer" > [Right click] > Properties

And on the other hand, there is a 64b patch for Civ2. So don't be affraid ^^
