Notepad?

What do people use?

If there is one feature I would like to return is the saving of map seeds in save configurations. As a map modder this has made my life considerably harder.

Previously, if you want to share a map seed with a friend, save configurations were so helpful.

I save the configuration with the map seed as its name. Not ideal but means I can jot it down and change when the seed is randomised. I understand why some were really happy seeds were randomised in configurations, but I sort of used configurations a my own basic scenarios. Having to re-enter the seed and leaders every time is a bit more clicking for me but I suspect the change benefits more people than not.

it's a very cheap fix, instead of removing some possibilities they should have updated the UI.

Personally, I'd have been happy with a randomise button beside the fields for map and game seed, with the seeds still being saved in the profile. That would have given me the best of both worlds. Others' mileage may vary.

A really nice mod! :goodjob:

Though this functionality (to save map seeds) is a little obscure/hidden.
Perhaps a mod just for the option of saving of map seeds (and players) in save configs might be better?
It’s already saved by default with the config. The problem is with the update, they are reset after the config is loaded. I simply added options to the loading screen to toggle the resetting.

I don’t think it’s worth the effort of splitting it into an separate mod (it’s technically simple, but there’s a lot of administrative work that comes along with maintaining yet another mod). It’s another part of game setup so I’m including it here.

@sukritact Thanks for the Leaders Fix!
I think Activated Mods are also saved with the config, could you do a similar thing for Mods as with the Leaders (an option to save the activated Mods or not)?

It's really frustrating if you want to load a config but not the Mods that are saved with it.

I can't agree with this strongly enough. It wouldn't be as bad if the save config file was easily edited in a notepad, but there's all this other gibberish in there that stopped me from ever trying.

Maybe Firaxis will take note of these issues for Civ 7. Also, being able to define city state / leader / natural wonder pools some other way so when I create a new game I don't have to spend 10 minutes re-configuring those.

That's especially annoying if you configured everything started a new game, but the Map is bad and you have to reroll the Game.. same procedure again... perhaps once again...

So, Yes. I realy hope Civ 7 will make it better.

With a bad start you can just hit the restart button in the menu. When a mod fails to load properly, however, and you get kicked back to the infamous error screen... :-/

Forgot about that. IIRC It wasn't the case some Time ago, but got fixed since then.
Thanks for the reminder!
