Better auto-explore mode?

Is there a mod that provides a better auto explore?
Many times I see my guys retracing steps instead of exploring the obviously large mass of fog near them.

yep the auto explore imo is broken. i've put caravel's on auto explore, 50+ turns later there is an explored bubble in a sea of fog of war where the AI caravel's traverse back and forth through the same explored tiles.

Trespassing in autoexploring is very very annoying.
I hope at least they patch it to a point that automated units do not trespass.
