Beyond Earth lore and planet's air quality

Hi,

1/ Something striked me while watching the Rising Tide intro video is that people don't have any suit in the outside. That means the atmosphere is breathable.
I did not have this feeling so far by playing the game (soliders have suits). But I did not play to much I may completely be wrong.

2/ Is there some lore, some writings about the arrival of the colonists on the planet ? Is the planet known ? Or is this voluntarily occulted in order to let anything possible in the game with a very open setting ?
I remember of SMAC that had a lot of lore, a kind of scientific planetary analysis, and multiple books with stories....

I believe the planet's air is breathable, otherwise they would have went to one that was.

The planet's lore can't be too specific, taking into account the various biomes and other options it can be in-game.

There is some lore, but it is mainly focused on old earth and how the factions came to be. Not much on the new planet that I remember.

Soldiers probably have suits to protect themselves in combat...

To my knowledge, Soldiers will have suits to protect themselves.
