Beyond The Sword problems

hey guys/ girls, i have civ4 BTS and tried installing it on my laptop which is a windows vista hom basic, i can run set up it goes from " Finding Direct X files and updating as necessary" then it goes to " New patch availble installing New Patch" Then it says that that it can not install the patch setup aborted. Any ideas?

can you explain patched? i do not think so, i just put in the CD.

patch Civ4 to 1.61 (download it fresh from here) - download and run that.
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.19 (download it fresh from here).
