Beyond The Sword XML error on loading

Hello.
Installed genuine discs of CIV IV and BTS several times now. Install goes okay but everytime I try to start BTS I get this;

XML error
cursor type already set?
Current XML file is: xml\GameInfo\CIV4ForceControlInfos.xml


Civ IV loads okay, strangely. BTS gets this error, I have to click it many times to get into game, which seems eventually to run okay but I haven't played a long game yet so don't know if it crashes.

Please help if you can - tried searching for tips but haven't got a working answer (installed the Parser, tried complete uninstall and file delete of Civ)

Edit; Should have mentioned, I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3 version.

Please install first the latest BtS patch, then we'll look further.
