Big problem. i think?

Hi all. im new to the civ series and that means this forum, so i apologize if this subject has been touched on but i cant seem to find anything about it. basically what happens, after a few minutes gameplay my civ4 locks up and makes a very fast juddering sound, and it happens every single time, yet it never used to when i first installed it in december, so after multiple reinstallations and even a reformat, nothing worked, so i left it for a month, and tested it out today, same problem. so if anybody has a solution, many thanks

Have you downloaded the most recent patch? (that may be a silly question, but I'm kind of new to learning more about my computer)

yea i have. actually this problem only started AFTER i installed patch, but now it stays without it

I really am unsure of the specifics, but I know I've read on the forums that others are having problems with post-patch.
I've been pouring over these forums for days, so exactly where in the forums I'm not sure. (I'm just full of good info aren't I ) But again it's out there somewhere...
