My closest to successful game on Diety... using the Romans.
My two closest neighbors were Monty and Mansu...
So, that's obvious, kill Monty first, then move to the softy Mansu.
I beeline IW, get the Praets going, and conquer Monty pretty quickly...
My stacks of Praets move to the border to fight Mansu... Declare war...
Yeah, each Mali city already had at least 6 longbows, etc...
I didn't even have the catapult yet...
Then his stack moved over toward me... I have never seen the Mali with such an army!
I lost epically.

Ouch, thats just fail...Having my intercontinental invasion fleet swallowed by the Bermuda Triangle.
Building up a powerhouse production center, making sure you churn out units in one turn on Marathon....then thinking building a nuclear plant would be a good idea there.....it went under meltdown.
The Ironworks is gone, most of the plants are gone, and my main production city is totally ruined.
Does anyone have any other Nuclear mishaps?

Going Worker Settler for a god like second city spot to block GK out from a good chunk of land and losing the spot by two turns. Then, I decided to go to another spot but it got eaten by a barb since I had no escort.

I just started playing multiplayer with people I met on CFC. In my first game playing with this guy we were playing coop against 2 AI teams. I founded my third city and had a pretty good early empire going but all of a sudden a bunch of barbs popped up. It wasn't a random event, they had just spawned in the fog. I only had a warrior defending and they razed my city before I could send reinforcements. So embarrassing, especially because I play on Emperor and don't consider myself a noob.
I recovered fairly well but I didn't get enough cities set up to become the powerhouse I should have been. We got screwed because we were on separate continents while the AI teams were right next to each other. I couldn't produce a big enough army to fight against Alex and Ragnar on my continent and they got a culture victory about 50 turns before we could launch the spaceship.

There was a game when I left with Boudica, Shaka & Genghis on a pangea map.
Empires was like three strips : Genghis, me, Shaka & Boudica.
Shaka was beating Boudica for a very long time until GK joined her.
I've noticed that Shaka's power rating falls to quick. That was not profitable for me, because I planned to invade Genghis & his was friendly with Boudica.
I closed borders with him, moved armies to Genghis borders & DoWed. Next turn Shaka capitulated...
Boudica (she was annoyed at me, I ignored her and was a heathen)DoWed second turns later
About 20 turns later my empire halved because GK attacked my bad-defended cities on Shaka's borders...
