Hello again!
As I mentioned in this thread, I have devised a plan to achieve all the requirements for four of the six legs of the Elite Quattromaster Challenge.
I will try to post a thread around every two weeks with the game conditions, and then some highlights of my game, and encourage others to do the same. I also open the floor to discussions of strategy, as the regular HoF'ers never cease to amaze me with their insights into the game.
Round 9: You've probably played this before!
As an odd numbered round, we're back to vanilla (+Warlords), and this is about as vanilla as it gets. We have:
England, whch means Liz, a very commonly played leader because of her traits (Fin/Phi);
Epic Speed, one of the more commonly played speeds;
Pangea, a desirable map type, although more common for conquest and domination.
"Required" Settings:
Expansion: Vanilla/Warlords
Era: Ancient
Civilization: England
Victory Condition: Space Race
Game Speed: Epic
Map: Pangea
Although all maps except duel are eligible for EQM,all the submissions for the Bindy challengeeveryone's submissions except Ruff's so far have been small or standard, so I’m going to concentrate on those two. If you’d like to try on another map size, it’s perfectly valid.
Epic Space Race: Rex, Kill, Outtech, Build, Launch. Basic Civ IV, really.
Here again are the opponent requirements for various map sizes.
Remember, Duel Maps are definitely ineligible for the Elite Quattromaster Challenge.
Elizabeth is Philosophical and Financial. Victoria (yes, there is another English leader!) is Expansive and Financial. For Warlords players, Imperialistic replaces Expansive for Vicki. Warlords players also have Churchill, who is Charismatic and Protective. Of these, Phi/Fin is the obvious choice, but Expansive can have its benefits in the later game, when you start needing Factories/Coal Plants/Laboratories to build your space parts. The UU is the famous Redcoat, a strength 14 Rifleman. Warlords players also have the UU, which is the Stock Market, which is a bank with an extra 15%
England starts with Fishing and Mining.
