Since September of 2024, I have undertaken a project to recreate the game Civilization in the Scratch programming language.
All art is drawn by me. I modeled it after Civ 2, although it borrows some features from Civ 3 and SMAC such as the worker units and the social engineering system, shown below.
A game as Rome. The game menus can be shown at the top.
The tech tree, available through the "advisors" menu.
The tech tree creates itself automatically which allows for easy modding and editing of the tech tree.
In BirdCiv, there is no despotism penalty or commerce bonus. Instead, policies like “Democracy” give a bonus to science and gold generation directly.
Here are the World Wonders, showing which city owns what wonder.
A picture of the city menu, with the production menu highlighted.
Top Ten Cities by population
Not everything is finished yet. I plan on having it released on January 20th of 2026, both publicly on Scratch as well as for download as an .html file.
Any comments or questions would be appreciated!
