This was requested a long time ago by a couple different people... I heavily modified the standard battleship for the model, and simply created a general animation for it. Overall, it works and looks good in game compared to the other standard ships (which was my goal).

    Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_battleship_Bismarck
"The German battleship Bismarck is one of the most famous warships of the Second World War. Named after the 19th century German chancellor Otto von Bismarck, Bismarck's fame came from the Battle of the Denmark Strait in which the flagship and pride of the British Royal Navy, the battlecruiser HMS Hood, was sunk in May 1941, from Churchill's subsequent order to "Sink the Bismarck" [1], and from the relentless pursuit by the Royal Navy which ended with her loss only three days later."

Use the standard fscale of the normal battleship, and please point to the Bismark.kfm file in your XML (I realize I spelled it wrong). Teamcolor is not supported on the ship. Also, if your country has laws about the use and display of the swastica, please be aware that for historical accuracy the ship includes them. They can be easily removed by changing the texture.

    Enjoy!

All you need to do to remove the swastica is to open up the .dds file (the texture) and remove it. You can copy and paste the bow/sturn sections from the normal battleship texture to cover them up.

I would recommend you use this unit in your mod to represent the Bismarck, as I'm not aware of any new models released that represent the ship, just new skins. I could be wrong, as I have been away for a while. The ship is distinctive from the one supplied with the game in that it has 4 turrets w/ 2 guns each vs. 3 turrets w/ 3 guns each. I also modified the central area of the ship to more closely match the real thing. For the time being, it would also make a good stand-in for the battleship classes you mentioned (except the Iowa Class, which appears to be what the game makers based theirs off of), as those also have 4 turrets vs. the standard civ4 ships 3. The skin would have to be changed though, as the Bismarck had a distinctive color scheme.

Just some ideas that I thought you might be interested in...

I wouldn't say I'm back, just able to post things from time to time. I don't think I'll ever get back to my old levels of unit production...

With a new skin this could be turned into a new unit, the Battle Cruiser perhaps?

Do I read this correctly in that this is not a new model, but simply a new skin? Because if it's not, an accurate model would be better. (Calling Dr. Matt...) :mischief:

At least as much as the default Firaxis Iowa BB does to the real Iowa... surely we wouldn't need another one of those, eh?

It IS a reskin though... look closely... it's the default Iowa with the rear smokestack removed and replaced with a turret (and of course the turrets are reskined)... but if you look at the superstructure, it's the same as the default Firaxis Iowa. The base of the superstructure is the same shape too (as well as the secondary guns)... clever reskin to be sure... but it is a reskin, not a new model.

That is exactly what I have been saying! We need a new model! :)
