3 ships: Bismark and its 2 cruiser escorts, Prinz Eugen, and the ... duh, (it starts with an "S"). I don't even know if the 2 cruisers were of the same class.

No, the Bismarck was planned to be used with her sister Tirpitz, the Prinz Eugen and the (never completed) carrier Graf Zeppelin.
