Blank Screen & Crashes

I had not played since back in the summer and when I went a few days ago the latest patches were installed. Now after I save a game and exit and go back to start again. The music plays but the screen is blank. I also get crashes at different times after starting (non stop playing a game). I always play single player and have removed all newer mods since I last played as I thought it might be a conflict prob.

It amazes me that this game still has so many problems ! I also checked Steam cache integrity and it was fine.

Anyone one have any idea as to what might cause this??? I am not Einstein...and I am lost as to what changes may be causing this fiasco. It seems that this game is fixed to make it worse???????

Any help would be appreciated.....deeply....LOL

Is there a minumum distance for ancient ruins to be apart ??? If so what is the distance?
I have tried using different maps, checking for conflicting mods and it is still a no go.
I play on huge maps with 12-17 Civs.
I never had this problem months ago....but, now the game is unplayable.

Since I am writing to myself....no wonder I can't get my problem solved...LOL.
I checked my config.ini file and it was as follows:

; Save Path - relative to working (Civ5) folder
FileName =
Should it not have the path name? But again, some games get saved while others of a different nature(maps) do not????? Perplexing
