With Civ VII close to around the corner, I recently came across some of the vintage Civ3 websites, and thought it would make for a good trip down memory lane.
First is the official Civ3 website. I'm sure we all visited it many times. Sadly it went offline some time in 2015.
Next is its predecessor, Firaxis's website for Civ3 prior to launch. It has a few posts from Soren Johnson and Jeff Briggs describing features of the upcoming game, and even when the images for links don't load, the links generally work. Firaxis's main site also loads. Did you know that "firaxis" is "the fiery axis of creativity"?
You can also see the Microprose page for Civ3; Microprose was then part of Infogrames Interactive, Civ3's publisher.
Did you ever call technical support for Civ3, at 99 cents per minute? You can view information about how to do so from this page! Along with helpful tips like "Build a courthouse as soon as possible" and "Building a port gives an extra tile for a unit to stand on" (let me know if you know what that one means!)
If you're looking for the Mac version? That would be from Westlake Interactive.
And last but not least, here's the Civ3 team:
Sadly this image is not, as far as I can tell, labeled as to who's who. We probably all recognize Sid, but I'd be curious if you know who some of the other people are.
Hope you enjoyed some of these!
