Blender baking

I've been converting a few buildings from google warehouse (collada files) and have been using texture baking to merge multiple textures into one to create a new building very fast. It has worked for a few models, but for some at unwrapping it then only attaches to one texture creating a repetitive texture of only one of the original textures. Not sure what is going wrong.

I'm using Blender 2.49 and here are my steps (it goes wrong often whenever I UV unwrap).

1. Import .dae
2. merge objects
3. textured (draw type)
3. New UV texture layer (edit mode)
4. Ctl+C---->Textface UV from Layer
5. UV unwrap
6. new image (256x256)
7. Render--->Bake render meshes--->Texture only
8. Save UV map and export .nif
