This variant has already been tried successfully in mutineer games the warmongerer way. I wanted to try it aiming for a space victory. You get the point ? no cottages ever (TM) and launch first

If you are a SE fanatic, this is your game. And if you're not, just join and maybe you'll change your mind ;)

I want to try this with Peter (philosophical/expansive) on warlords and get some use of the "Research institutes". There would be no limitation on warmongering but the map script would be continents/custom continents to avoid "crippling all the AIs and launch undisturbed" strategy.

I don't have enough experience with 2.08 patch so I don't know what level would be challenging enough and not suicidal. I am hesitating between prince and monarch. There is the option of playing monarch and rerolling till I get stone in the capital. So give your preference here and I would go with the majority vote.

I would roll a map once the roster is full (if ever :) )

ROSTER :
  • blid
  • KANGA_DU
  • bede
  • Sooooo
  • GreyFox
  • Jet

Count me in blid. Monarch no rerolls.

I'll take the "(open)" slot. Monarch no reroll.

Is the rule that if any enemy cottages escape pillage and are captured, they're to be demolished at the earliest opportunity?

Welcome everybody :)

I would roll a map after work tonight and post a screenshot for discussion. Monarch no reroll by unanimous vote.

Well, I haven't thought about that so we shall do as you said.

@Ozbenno : I want to try that with a philo trait for GS spamming.

If you are a SE fanatic ...
What does SE stand for? Star trEk? Seasonal Exchange? Stock Exchange? Silly Expletive?

The guys in the strategy forum like to give everything acronyms, so SE = specialist economy. CE means cottage economy. Though in my opinion, anyone who uses those terms in this game should be sent to the tower and flogged :whipped: :p

Sooooo already answered. Well, no acronyms but I'm not the one who doesn't spell teotihuacan correctly  . Glad we're playing russians

I agree, and furthermore we'll probably want to REX while going AH -> HBR. Then with CoL (for CS) and the GL, our SE could get us a CSS and even some additional TLAs.

Oh, I'm going to make you come over here, all right... :D

Here are the settings :

And the starting spot :

Awesome for a specialist economy. No stone but we have enough food for a myriad of geeks. We have forests and hills to aim for early wonders if we want to.
So fishing seems a no brainer. Maybe AH and BW next ?

P.S : I already moved the scout. He was up in the north.

Nice, verra nice. Pastures of plenty indeed!

Epic, groovy. I suspect Fishing/BW > Fishing/AH because the Seafood would make Slavery useful immediately.

Blimey charlie, that start is hella-great. Let's celebrate.

Reccomend researching fishing then bronze working. Being expansive we should whip all of our workers in (each whip gets us 150% when used on a worker), going from size 4 to size 2. Something like warrior (size 2), whip WB, build another WB and warrior until size 4 then whip worker, build warrior back to size 4, whip settler etc.

Good start, Fishing does seem the best first choice. I'd favor Bronze Working next as sooooo so eloquently explained.

Concur on fishing > BW. AH can wait ... no point getting it too early since we won't have any worker until BW is in.

No sense whipping the work boat me think ... food is one thing, whipping penalty is another ... by the time BW comes in, we should already have a work boat out. Save the whipping for the worker.

The first build seems to be a barracks / warrior (if you are paranoid) / another scout until fishing is in.
