BNH03- Iroquios Revenge on the Pale Skins... An AWM challenge

Is there any benefit of giving the other civs enough time to get into Rep before we contact them and then force them into a government swap? Or better yet, have them stuck in a war without Monarchy as a possibility. :eek:

I would select whatever is the most expensive and call it hedging my bet.

my understanding, limited as it is, is that as long as the AI is in a war, they will devote most cash and builds towards military type stuff, delaying thier research a great deal.
i believe it is best to wage war asap.
we must not neglect to remember that we lose alot too out of too many AI fronts, and need it to be worth it to us.
so we need the GLib as an incentive (loads of free techs)
once we are out of breathing space we will meet them all.
so might aswell get it over with.

i vote to start sending out boats about 10-15 turns before the GLib comes online, so we minimize the risk and maximize the profit (let them research at full speed for us)

if we DONT :eek: get the GLib...
time for plan B :devil:

id say mine the 2 hills near Niagra Falls and start it there.

Niagra's the choice for a pre-build.

@Thunderchaser, you got it?

AGAIN! again i had some trouble with my PC (system crash , not a lightning :mischief: ) , but i fixed that now so:
got it
will play tonight. CET

Skip me!
sorry guys :( i have no time to play it tonight and tomorow im going to visit my grandparents who live in the countryside so i will be away for most of the day.

Thunderchaser has been lightning quick and has gone to meet the great GrandParents.
Chief PlaysWithSquirrels is UP in a tree and should be playing with the tiny totem
ArrivesQuiteLate is as usuall late to the Kayak, but while ON DECK is a great sailor.

Your great chief was playing not with just squirrels, but with 4 virgins and 3 squirrels. (One got lost somewhere....)

Got it now.

PreTurn- Nothing.

IBT- Salamanca Settler->Archer.

Turn 1(2110BC)- Send Archer/Settler pair to the designated spot.

IBT- Nothing

Turn 2(2070BC)- Send Worker to start building a mine near Niagara Falls.

IBT- Grand River Warrior->Worker.

Turn 3(2030BC)- Send the Warrior to Niagara Falls.

IBT- Salamanca Archer->Settler. Niagara Falls Warrior->Curragh.

Turn 4(1990BC)- Build Allegheny. Set it to build Barracks. With a mine it'll build Archers or even MW with ease from it. Set research to 70% and were breaking even.

IBT- Nothing

Turn 5(1950BC)- Nothing.

IBT- Nothing

Turn 6(1910BC)- Nothing.

IBT- Salamanca Settler->Archer. A Russian Warrior comes into view.

Turn 7(1870BC)- Send out the Settler/Archer pair to take another site.

IBT- More Russian units....

Turn 8(1830BC)- Kill the Russian Warrior.

IBT- Nothing

Turn 9(1790BC)- Russian Archer fortifies.

IBT- Salamanca Archer->Settler.

Turn 10(1750BC)- Lower luxury tax to 10%. It'll have to go up next turn. But, now Philo in 2 with 6 gpt coming in.

The Red dot is where the Archer/Settler pair is going. The Blue dots are just potential, all of them. In the NW and South. (Dark and Russia close :mischief: )

Da Save

Hi!

It's looking good there... was thinking it was my turn to play, but guess I'd forgotten Mr ArrivesQuiteLate. Bad me!

Just had a couple of questions floating around... what we heading for with philosophy? Lit for the Glib would be my pick - although it raises the question of where we want to build that little beastie?

Have fun!

Philo -> Lit
Niagra -> GLib

Will grab it this evening when I'm home and the family is tucked in. I should be able to post w/i 24.

It's not Mr., it's ArrivesQuiteLate M.M. (Medicine Man)

"Arrow to the head? Yank it out, take two beers and call me in the morning. But not before 9:30 or my raccoon latte. If I'm not here leave a message with my recepitionist, ArrivesQuiteSoon." :D

Turn 0 – 1750 BC
I’m concerned Grand River is at risk from the Rus. archer so I move the vArcher out of the capitol to cover.
Will finish the curragh in Niagara and then set up for the GLib.

Turn 1 – 1725 BC
Salamancha grows and entertainment goes to 20%.

Turn 2 – 1700 BC
Philo comes in and we’re the first to get it. Literature is free. What to research next? Nothing! Actually, we’ll set our sites Bronze at a slow pace. On second thought, BW is fairly cheap so we’ll open the door for spears at a moderate pace.
Grand River worker -> racks
We’ll road the sugarcane and then move to the hills outside of Niagara.

IBT: Warrior joins the Rus. archer.

Turn 3 – 1675 BC
Salamancha settler -> archer. Entertainment to 0.
Cattaraugus founded -> warrior
Juggle warrior from Niagra to Salamancha as MP and send out archer w/ settler.
GLib in 132 turns.

IBT: Rus. pair skates to the NE and onto Grand River’s door. Barb above Cattaraugus moves into the open.

Turn 4 – 1650 AD
Salamancha grows. Entertainment to 10%.
Grand River warrior falls to Rus warrior (2/3) but vet archer flawlessly kills Rus archer.

IBT: Russian warrior runs and our archer will pursue.

Turn 5 – 1625 AD
Archer out of Cattaraugus flawlessly kills forted barb.
Good news! :) We have dyes on the tundra to the NW. The archer/settler pair are redirected to plant on the non-forested tundra. This gives us a CxxC spacing, preserves the forest, makes the tundra tile more productive thaN it otherwise would have been.

IBT: Russian warrior forts and will die shortly.

Turn 6 – 1600 AD
Archer kills warrior and promotes to elite (3/5).

Turn 7 – 1575 AD
Better news, the new city will have a fish.

IBT: BW comes in and we go for IW. Hey, I want to know where that iron is.

Turn 8 – 1550 AD
Oil Springs is founded and renamed Fish-Oil Springs -> curragh. (??)
Cathy has gems in the jungle. Sounds like a song.

Turn 9 – 1525 AD
Salamancha settler -> archer. I move the settler out but his archer escort is goofing off in the south. I feel like we need more units to protect. So to contradict myself I change Cattaraugus from a warrior to a worker.
Can only move Entertainment down to 10% since Niagara has only one MP. I’ll look at popping the racks to get moving on the units faster. Hmmmm, I think what we need are workers to up the production. I’m a little more content w/ the worker build. No pops to be had.

IBT: Cultural expo. BTW, we have furs as well. :)

Turn 10 – 1500 AD
Nothing much. Moving settler and archer towards blue dot. It’s coastal, maintains the CxxC spacing and improves a plains tile. The downside is that we’re expanding towards Russia. Then again, if we’re AW we might as well meet the enemy head on. I wonder how much jungle Cathy has to contend with?

Builds:
Fish Oil Springs – curragh or worker?
Grand River – racks or worker?

IW in 5 turns w/ +3 gpt and 61g in the bank. Entertainment at 10%
GLib in 125 turns. :crazyeye:

Many apologies on the Mr... M.M. it is. (please don't curse me!)

Good turns! Very nice to find a couple of Lux hidden away to the north. :D

Think you're right, Cathy must be stuck in the jungle and/or tundra.

Can't check the save atm, but do we have the wheel yet? Could be a good target for after the IW?

Right, I'll call this a got it - will play this evening...

Will try and settle the spot, push out some more archers... feeling a little weak!

nice moves jb or er.. ArrivesQuiteLate M.M.
nice to see two lux very near

I would like to advocate turning the two builds mentioned at the bottom of my previous post into workers.

One thing I did not mention in my post is that Cathy requested an audience and I rebuffed her. Peering into the terrain (Marsh and Jungles) to the south I'm willing to bet she doesn't have much of a war machine. With Salamancha pumping out settlers and our inevitable need to up production (of archers) I think the workers are a good bet.

And my last pitch for the workers are to get the luxes hooked up.

Next topic... Research

I'm always content to spend the money early in the game to pick up techs for trade bait, a needed unit (spears, horsemen, swords, etc.), or resource identification (Iron, Horses). The other line of thought is to bank the coin for upgrades or rushes in another government type.

I guess one consideration that just entered my pointy head is what government are we heading towards? Researching towards Monarchy might have been a better use of our beakers.

sci - i guess we finish IW and go all out for :king: ?
workers... we need more. and i havent seen much of Cathy's mighty war machine, so i'd side with ArrivesQuiteLate.

we need to know more of the layout (are we on a large land mass? a medium island?) to determine gov type, but a safe bet would indeed be monarchy.

short term strategy? workers and archers (swords), while keeping expanding.
expand west, cutting cathy off the good southern land?
add a few northerly towns to pressure cathy?

long term? get the lib. get boats out. get to know our land mass. (though by now i believe we would have met others on it or near us)

No problem there... I'll switch both those over. Get the Grand River one roading our outlying cities, start the other guy on the luxury roads. 2 Existing ones will keep working on the Great Library city.

Could go straight for monarchy, but I'd really like to pick up the wheel first. Horsies and Iron are definitely going to be the deciding factors in our military plans?

On that topic, I feel very weak militarily. Bit of bad RNG and we'd be in a world of hurt - Be nice to get Allegamythingy pumping out some archers. Would feel much more relaxed, slightly slowing down settler production for the next couple of builds. Perhaps Archer(X2)-Settler or Warrior-Archer-Settler patterns depending on the way the shields pan out?

Anyway, will play shortly, but check this first.

How about HBR and MW? They can :hammer: Cathy fast and they better for protecting cause they have 2 movement.
