[BNW] Peaceful Culture Victory Guide (immortal)

sorry i cant remember but it was on quick speed.

i had a good start with good growth and production, made 2 settlers and bought 1 with a reasonable NC time is what i can remember

Good morning Folks!
I've just switched from Civ4 to Civ4 (I know, I'm late...) and I'm trying to figure what's different, so I decided to follow this pre-made strategy because it looked fun to me.
I started a game but it's not working that well and I have a couple of simple questions so far (noobish ones):

- Do I have to prioritize food in my cities and neglect trading posts?

- On a large map, I still have to keep only 4 cities or do I have to expand further?

I repeat, I'm still learning the basics...
Thank you!

re: food, yes prioritize it. I typically only build trading posts on jungles or in puppet cities. Generally more population is better than a little gold. Population gives you gold anyway, via city connections.

I haven't played this strategy on large maps yet but it might actually make it a bit easier. From my experience there tends to be a bit more space between civs on large than standard, making it easier to get those 4 cities in the first place. I don't think you'd NEED more cities but it might be a good idea depending on the difficulty level & how things are going.

Thank you very much for your answers, I'm going to give it a new try :)

Just finished wonder-spamming immortal OCC game by Egypt. Managed to build most of the wonders and CV took 306 turns, could make it 10-20 turns earlier mb. The resulting AI culture was ~13000.

Now immagine you go SV in 250 turns [not OCC ofc.], that means that on ~210 turn you may have hotels and airports. And you can openn internet damn fast. Will you be able to generate 13k tourism in 90 turns? for sure, you will.
So what the point in taking aestetics and building Louvre, Uffizi? Yiou just go science and win SV faster, then if u go tourism.

You're probably better at the science game than me...I haven't gotten the hang of 250 SVs yet. Seems hard to consistently get enough DOFs for RAs. But that's another story.

Also I actually don't build Louvre nor Uffizi with this strategy. I skip both of them. As for aesthetics vs. rationalism, you could very well be right. I just laid out the strategy that has been successful for me, not claiming its best or anything. But it does end up working out well because world fair should hit shortly after you finish aesthetics. That sets you up for massive culture gain during the world fair, allowing you to plow through rationalism and/or ideologies like a beast. And honestly I don't have many specialists working at the beginning of the Renaissance, so it doesn't seem like delaying secularism is that bad. That's my reasoning at least.

Or may I am wrong. Just loaded Venice save, bought 3 airports and see only 30 tourism. (It was 20+ without airports) :crazyeye:
