Boff-04 Nice Hat! (Link, Monarch, Cont)

BTW grover, the moment emance anger bumps up again, Just golden age revolt to emancipation. Of course when that happens, towns like Washington are going to have 6+ specs dumped back into the fields hehe.

Cheers!
-Liq

Looking good, I am guessing that Silver is up and Liq has drunk too much of that cough syrup again with all those weird posts!

Anyway, I actually like the idea of taking that snowy barbland for denial. Just drop a Sids and a Mining Inc in it and it's like working 7 improved tiles or summat like that

Never doubt Liq's Avitar!

Damned child proof caps.... :old:

That barb town info is a bit dated so lets hope someone else didn;t roll it over yet.

Barbs doubtless have rifles now so bring some infantry!

Silver jsut played btw so grover and DE get to abuse the workers.

Cheers!
-Liq'd

Btw, not saying you have to do this but Liq found this little trade interesting.

Civ4BeyondSword2009-02-1420-37-16-0.png

Just for, you know, giggles.:D

Just to give an idea though we are pulling well over 400 gold a turn at 50% slider... and uh 1720ish beakers per turn...

Cheers!
-Liq

Well, I can't take it until late tonight, so DE can get a set in first if he's able.

I'll play some turns tonight either way.

Well next turnset is a bit of power micro.

1. Pop a Golden Age.
We have 30 golden turns in the bank (thanks mom!) consisting 2x artists, 1 Scientist, 1 Spy. We are averaging another great person every 10ish non golden Turns with Priests and Merchants likely from NY and I think Seattle.

If we Lazily play our cards correctly (and don;t get a great eng before 3gd is buildable :hammer:) we will be threatening a 4th Golden age before the next 45 turns are up. If we are silly, possibilities for Christo micro-abuse are revolting to Pacifism on turns we have no military builds incoming

2. Revolt To Emancipation on turn 0.
Any mild anger threat from New York or Portland are forever a thing of the past if we revolt before the next bump in emance anger. We are going to have to restructure Specs with Sids anyway so might as well do it now.

3. Push health and hammer buildings in the towns.
Multiplier buildings aren;t all that important for the mass of growing towns in the south (unless they give us health), as once they get sid's going, they are going to be pushing caps quickly. Wonders + emance will give us mass additional happy, so Health is the limiting factor as always, while Forges and Factories spam the health faster. The south needs so many core builds btw, it's like running the lottery.

Consider Granary-> Factory ->Mall the starting queue of a new town. :crazyeye:

4. Spec madness.
Other than the main great people pumps, doesn;t much matter what specs towns run, well other than no more artists. Seattle, Boston and Bentley (+ LA, Orlando, Atlanta) can all use a Factory/Industrial Park/Forge for running max eng specs (should all have the health cap room) while NY Should be running Coins and Washington beakers specs. Actually Washington is running 12 scientists now, prolly swap 6ish over to spies when we lose caste. Main goal on next great people are for a 4th GA haha.

5. Spread Sids!
Pushing Sids to the utter crap towns early on sounds good. That way can spread sids slowly to mature towns while the worker army Cottages over extra food.

6. Barb Punking.
Run both dessies up to that oil island to see if it's still free :D. Have Atlanta push out a few Transports and get a boat load of infantry up in the first run, as punking a barb town this late in the game needs some fire power. Second Transport should be settler+mining+sids+Tao to get the oil in the town's bfc and it's borders popped. Sids is worth 54 culture per turn btw.

More exciting "Whack End Turns" simply do not exist!

Cheers!
-Liq

1876ad, turn 466

Nice Spot and Purple Dot have -2 and -1 food respectively. Nice Spot is facing the loss of population in about 4 turns. I'll send the next Sushi exec there. Purple Dot has plenty of food stored up and it's one turn away from the mall.

New York, Portland, and LA are at their happy caps. LA is stagnant, but NY and Portland are still growing.

I take Liq's advice and spend a GA on a golden age. I revolt to Emancipation, so that our civics are Representation, Free Speech, Emancipation, Free Market, and Theocracy. (Theocracy keeps us safe from diplomatic victories, right?)

After the civics change, everytown has at least +5 happy.

1877ad, turn 467

Rochester loves the prime minister.

St. Louis grows to size 16.
Reno grows to size 7.
Atlanta: Int Agcy > transport (2 turns)
Manor: mall > factory (6 turns)
Seattle: sid's exec > exec
SF: market > aqueduct
Orland: mall > factory
Detroit: mall > factory
Purple Dot: mall > aqueduct (food is up to +4 now, no longer starving)
Red Dot: levee > factory

Alright. That's enough of that. Our cities are growing and building so fast that I'll just stick to the highlights. For the most part, Boston will build destroyers, Atlanta will build transports, and other towns will build infra.

1878ad, turn 468

Hannibal (pleased) wants us to trade him radio (worth 13k beakers) for military tradition (worth 4k beakers). I decline.

Boudica declares war on Ramesses. Boudica is number one on the power graph. We are number two. Ramesses is at the bottom.
Ramesses (cautious) wants us to declare war on boudica. I decline.

attachment.php

The barb city has three rifles and a galley defending it. Hannibal has an unescorted settler on that ice island, adjacent to the barb city. I think razing the city and replanting it one east to get the oil would be the best idea.

NY: public transport > factory
Chicago: public transport > customs house
seattle: exec > exec
houston: mall > factgory
st louis: factory > mall
buffalo: mall > market (it's closer to happy cap than to health cap)
black dot: int agency > factory
reno: forge > factory

1879ad

Hannibal's settler is still next to the barb city. Why don't they attack him? I think the settler is there waiting for us to raze the barb city so that he can settle himself. We'll have to have our own settler already landed (and covered by our stack) so that when we raze the barb city, we can settle the new city on the same turn. Otherwise, Hannibal will found a city and lock us out.

Boudica adopts theocracy and emancipation.

Red Dot loses 1 population to starvation. Darn. I overlooked it, I guess.

We get a great prophet in NY. Our collection there now contains one each of prophet, spy, scientist, and artist.

1880ad

I spend the 48 bucks to save the theater.

Thebes (Boudica) is captured by Ramesses.

Mass Media > Industrialism, heading for plastics.
I missed the screen shot.

1881-82ad

Boudica (annoyed) asks us to declare war on ramesses. I decline. But I trade her banana for 16gpt.

Ramesses loses a city to Celtia.

Ramesses gets a great scientist.

1883-84

attachment.php

1885-86ad

Our deal with Ramesses, trading him cow and wine in return for cash, iron, and gold gets cancelled by him. I trade him silk and cow for 13gpt plus gold.

attachment.php

Our assault on the barb town begins...
First infantry has 98% odds and wins. Second has 99% and wins. Third wins as well, and we raze the town. We found our own town 1E of the barb ruins immediately on the same turn to deny Hannibal.

The new town, baltimore, is -39.6 gpt in maintenance. Courthouse soon, I think.

1887-88ad

We get rock and roll, but I can't find the screen shot. I probably shouldn't play when I'm this tired. :)

1889-90ad

yawn

1891

We get a great merchant from Seattle. He joins the party in New York. Now we have a spy, a merchant, a prophet, a scientist, and an artist there.

1892ad, turn 482

attachment.php

I set research to ecology, in 4 turns, but I end my set here.

Boston stops building destroyers to start on the three gorges damn.

We need 10 more sushi execs. Three are currently in production.

I have two cities building wealth, currently--San Fran and St. Louis.

Our towns are all happy. LA is closest to the happy cap at +8.

Our towns are all growing, albeit some of them slowly.

Portland is -1 health but building a hospital.
Miami, Pos Dot, and Houston are at their health caps.

We have some transports collecting in Atlanta, and amost 9k gold saved up.

Man just sick

Nice job on introducing sids with style grover and setting up Baltimore, ugly slow tryying to open atlanta haha. :goodjob:

I micro'ed the save to do a few things, mainly to save the rest of you the pain and anguish of cycling though modern towns.

1. Traded Hanni 4k beakers worth of industrialism (he had three turns left on researching it) for his military tradition. Too bad he doesn't have any oil! :D even trade.

2. Fired off another golden age with the merchant and the scientist. That leaves a very drunk Priest, Artist and Spy at the 'Party Pad' In New York....

What Happens in New York, Stays in New York.

Probable (sober) scientist from Washington in 11ish for the 3rd GA (Can save the spy or whatever currently drunk gp is in the pad). Ecology in 3.

3. Micro'd all the Priest Specs away (so computers is wide open) and we are getting a few more ep's a turn. Also placed a few workers on auto path to even out food in philly and uh, wherever. Ugly long time to cycle though all of the towns haha.

4. Put Boston, Washington, and LA on 3ish turn hydro power plants. Took 3gd off Boston and placed it on Washington's queue, as its hammers are GG/Epic free. LA has a 6ish turn West Point queued after its hydro plant and Boston is free to spit out a killer navy once it gets power as well.

Oh Atlanta is on a work boat for its oil.

When ecology comes in, spam recycling centers everywhere and all non pump cities can get a free industrial park as well.

Tech path is Ecology -> Flight -> WTFprofit.

Once recycling centers are up, airports are free. Wheee....

Techwise after flight is uh WTH flavor of death you want.

Computers(4) +Robotics(6) for mechs and missile cruisers:eek:

Rocketry(4) + Satellites(4) for not much except it opens a whole bunch of pwn:

Artillery(2) + Laser (5) for mobile arty (meh)

Composites(4) for modern Armor

Advanced flight(4) for Gunships and jet fighters.

Imo, Robotics is the best bang for the buck.

Military pumps as follows
Boston - 14xp ships 13xp Ground/Air
LA - 12xp ships 11xp Ground/Air
Brrown - 17xp Ground/Air +free medic promo if avail
Purple - 13xp Ground/Air

Orlando - 10 xp ships 9xp Ground/Air.. slowly.
Great place to spit out city garrison endlessly. Gogo seals and mechs!

Any coastal town with a drydock can spit out nav 2 transports, so have them do so.

Purple should be spitting out air units that cannot get exp(bombers) since they can get +2 operational range right off the assembly line.

Brrown should be spitting out whatever wants 17xp + a free medic promo. That comes down to Siege and Gunpowder units.

Boston should be spitting out offensive ships first and whatever wants 4 promos second.

LA needs a GG =/ have it pop offensive ships first and whatever-wants-a-4th-promo-after-its-first-fight(TM) second. :crazyeye:

Considering even trash dumps like Pos Dot (53 non goldenage hammers a turn... sans power) can push a 7xp Tank out in 5 turns, get 20 of its superiors on tanks as well and that's just too many effing tanks!:p

You are up if you wish DE, else silver will hammer out an invasion :king:

btw DE, like the new and improved avatar?

BTW, Hanni will now take a mere 6k gold to DOW on both baud and rammy LOLOLOLOL

Baud evidently just power exp-ed Egypt so maybe just having Hanni declare on Egypt would be pown.

Cheers!

... Can't get to it before wednesday, so Silver might have to hammer out some turns before me...

Oh, and was Hannibal planning to settle on the ONLY NON-COASTAL TILE on the barb island? How's that for a stupid AI for ya?

Hmm ok so honestly just have a fast 30 golden turns to set the hammer up for you or grover, DE. 30 golden turns to set up all those toys we never get to play with, sound's fun.

Whoever gets it has the honor of bashing in 1-2 civs. Might want to leave Egypt for the odd man out :D

Ever see a town get planted on fresh ruins and have an airport bought the same turn? Well soon!

Boff-05 is looking like Emp Izzy on the Continents and Islands map script. The map script is a modified big and small that has nice separation of the continents. Silver was playing around with the setting on it so he can roll the effing starts :p

Cheers!
-Liq

Expansive and Ice age don't mix...

Exhibit A
set10top5.jpg

Damascus was our third town.

Our 4th town had mostly tundra AND peaks in it's bfc.

Rest assured Boff-06 will be ice age and raging barbs with some cranky old man..

Cheers!

Grabbed the save, played it. Report coming shortly...

1892AD (482):

So peaceful empire building and whacking end turn this time. For sure! No one is going to declare on us with our power ratings, and even if they did... Well... Our production is more than SIX TIMES our nearest rival (appears to be Hannibal), so they would be dead upon arrival anyways... That, and we're going to bulk up on SEALs for the Slaughter :D...

So Liq has us on a Crash Course to get Ecology in 3 turns, while bleeding 195gpt. Would sound bad except we have almost 9k gold in the bank, lol.

Well, going to do some heavy micro with massed signs. Little point in reporting it all. I will say, however, that most of it is optimizing food totals.

Notes to self... I put Buffalo on Avoid Growth temporarily, as the farms there need to be cleared out (we are working many coastal tiles and that does NOTHING for us).

Alright, so massed signs laid down... And we're ready to roll. Can dial science down to 70% and still get Ecology in 3 turns.

Was contemplating losing Rep for Suffrage, but there is no point at the moment...

So... doing this to "thin the crowd".

set9hannibalbribe.jpg

Whack end turn.

1893AD (483):

So the Chaos begins with Boud getting a GG. Not sure from what, although it looks like she took another one of Ramesses cities... Ramesses did take back Thebes though...

So yeah, our Sushi Exec messes up and fails to spread Sushi to San Fran. He gets fired.

1894AD (484):

set9un.jpg

Yeah, so vote comes up.

set9unvote.jpg

Considering the other two are worst enemies of Boud, I think we win by default...

So yeah, Sushi finally gets into San Fran, so going to work on tearing up farms.

1895AD (485):

set9ecology.jpg

We dial up Flight. It's 4 turns.

set9unvoteresults.jpg

We knew we would win as we control more than half the world's population, but Hannibal voted for us. That means we have an easy way out later...

Ramesses makes peace with Boudica this turn. That means that Hannibal is fighting a 2 front war on our behalf. Lovely heh.

1896AD (486):

Nothing at all eventful this turn. One more Sid's exec needed basically... For Orlando. All other cities covered. Portland has an exec waiting, but basically I'm scared to put more food in that city, lol.

1897AD (487):

Ok, so Hannibal takes Camulodunum from Boud. That was on the border, so expected. He also gets a Great General.

btw, we hit 6000 points exactly this turn.

set9scorechart.jpg

Yeah, won game, but it's fun to blow crap up.

1898AD (488):

Meh, nothing going on. Except I realize that I screwed up counting food in Chicago... Meh... Will let a spec starve...

1899AD (489):

We discover flight. There would be a screenshot, except that S.ilver goofed and hit enter too early.

Artillery is 3 turns, so giggle and dial it. Ok 2 turns while bleeding 182gpt, so do that...

Oops, S.ilver messed up and cut off irrigation to Atlanta AGAIN (second time folks)... Well, building another farm on top of a village, as we need to be food stable... Eh... cut off irrigation to Reno too sigh...

A ton of Recycling centers finishing this turn with misc aqueducts too. So capitalizing on the new health cap soonish.

1900AD (490):

set9hollywood.jpg

Fear the Happy Cap!

1901AD (491):

set9artillery.jpg

Rockerty in 3 as it is needed for just about everything.

Ramesses gets a Great General this turn. A big faceoff just happened, and I can still see the stacks.

set9hannibalstack.jpg

No idea how many units are in each. Hannibal's units are all an age ahead, but his stack is hurt.

1902AD (492):

UN vote comes up. Let's see if we can just stealth out of this because the game is starting to lag...

set9diplovote.jpg

Boud is still 2nd, so hopefully we will win.

1903AD (493):

set9diplowin.jpg

Meh, Diplo win lacks a cool movie of the whole planet turning red :p. Nice work team. Stealthing out of it saves us the comp crashing lag of fighting with massive stacks of 60+ units.

Save attached is the "Hit End Turn and we win" save.

Boff-05 being rolled as we speak.

Way to cheese a win rofl.

Actually that's a 100% genuine Dip Win since we needed Hannibal's votes to carry us over and we didn;t even touch the other continent to bash heads in.

I must say, that's the first true AI friend we'd had in all of Boff-0's cursed history haha.

Well cannot say a Liq missed building an insane fleet of drill4 medic Navy Seals with combat settler/exe support to pop that same turn airport and usher in a portal to the demon spawn 4 promo bombers + 7xp tanks rofl.

Sorry but one turn 17 xp seals (before power is installed) are just lolz.

Great work guys, yellow dot for the win!

Ok so onto boff05 Islandish Izzy Emp

Cheers!
