    HeyYo!

Chopped another 14 (!!) turns off the record :)
Submitted! BUT with a power crash in the middle (360AD), it may not be accepted.

    The slot : {Duel, Noble, Space Colony}
The Record : 1095AD on FLAT Terra with Pacal.

The start was a bit of a mess but with a promise.
Delhi was with 3 fish. But all on radius 2. :(
Once Musa finished Hinduism I had to go for Buddhism, as a library was too far away.

I got no Bronze working and only one happy resource (gold) in my 2 initial cities, but my strategy was this time was to try to see what happens when I DELAY my oxford rush and instead go to early {slavery+organized rel} revolution and metal casting before currency.
All this to build settlers+workers efficiently in my 2 cities and expand rapidly.
    This really worked out.
The game was mostly streamed out like my other games after that, but with more cities :)
Got Astronomy from a hut in America. Any game without it is a loss of many many turns.
Got no special GA quests, and the big surprise was of all things.. coal.
Musa has been sitting on the only 3 on the map.
I had to culturally take it from him. Railroad building was delayed, and some coal plants had some idle time... :O

So, not a perfect game, but it was good.
At the end I had an absurd +52 hammers from mining co and 30 Sudhi food :)

    Booga. Out! of! his! mind!

Duel really gives you +4 per resource, so I mine the hell out of everything.
After the spaceship is launched, I turn some into windmills just for kicks.. and population/science points :)

    Yey! accepted! :)
I'm planning to buy a UPS but there's an unusual heat wave here (Israel) now that is to last almost a week :(
    40+ Celsius. Earth on fire!

Sounds like an adventure submitting. I don't know of a starting strategy with coal either.

    Finally!

A real stable record - 22 (!!!) turns off my last record :) Same slot!
No power crash, also I bought a UPS :)

    The slot : {Duel, Noble, Space Colony}
The Record : 985AD on FLAT Terra with Pacal.

I finally found good 2 cities to start with and have bronze working. [and marble and stone are near]
It is very hard to find both those things, so I can't complain I did NOT receive the other big bonuses (Astronomy from hut / GA random quest).

Other than that, I don't have power to tell the entire game story...
One main change in strategy I'm not sure I talked about is abandoning the strategy of going to Civil service and only then to switch to Organized religion and build forges.
I need Organized religion sooner, then 2 forges, then I can really produce those workers and settlers. And chop wood in Delhi...
After Civil Service->Bureaucracy, I can start chopping some in my capital too.
Last chops on Cap are always for Oxford :)

I still hate not getting Astronomy on Terra. Only about 5 goody huts for 15% each...
Astronomy is a pure 9-10 turns.
I did get my Engineer, otherwise the game was lost.
I then got a second one, and decided it was going for WallStreet. Correct decision I believe.
Spreading the corporation is a pain anyway and this sets up a good economic infrastructure for the whole empire.

I'm sure the positioning of my last 2 GAs are disputable.
I launched 5 TAE, which is not ideal, mainly because I didn't have a GA at the very end.
My mining co was good but not a blast. Sushi was a blast. +44 hammers. +36 food.

    19 cities, 22 workers.

I can do better, but I think I'm at last quite satisfied and am around 20 turns from an ideal game.
    No point in pushing.
I need to know more maps and experiment with a few other nations to see the whole picture and know where I can do better.
On to leaders and maps thoughts!:smoke:

I'm checking out maps and leaders and thinking more broadly about the game, and I do have a question I can't google a proper answer to .. in the last 10 years :
Can I have competing corporations in the same city?
Not their headquarters, the corporations themselves.

    I'm thinking about Mining->Alum.
I can found the headquarters in different cities, but can they co-exist in the rest of the empire?
[If so, does Alum take the coal or Mining? How is it decided? by who received the executives first?]

I'm guessing the answer is a straight no, but I am curious..

No you can't - if they compete then when you spread one it kills the other.

Funny. Try launching 1 TAAP. (That's not Apostolic Palace.)

I've interviewed other leaders and maps for the job [duel, space race].
I have 3 leading leaders (commercial is something I won't give up ATM) :
    1. Pacal (already played a lot)
    2. Huayna (yes, I'm now testing him)
    3. Darius (will be tested after Huayna).

I have 3 maps I want to test (beyond the Terra map with its' obvious advantages).
They have to be at least... not small maps :)
    So :
    1. Highlands (now testing with Huayna. Already familiar with it by now).
Currently with small lakes, but will test seas also.
    2. Big and small. I have to see what the fuss is about and it may be suited.
    3. Fractal. I wonder what Mapfinder may find with that ;)

As Strategy is changed when a leader is changed, so maps that could fit this strategy.
Highlands is almost all land map, so I don't plan on Gr. Lighthouse (Terra map) and harbors (Pacal).
Astronomy can be put early but I think I'd rather it be after mining co and Factories.
I have an easy forge, so that's the expansion advantage.

And I've entered early Pyramids into the equation.
That's the only real wonder addition [edit : added Great library too], but all I do with wonders will be much faster.

Why do I expect this setting to work?
I may have 3-5 cities less than on Terra, and food is not as plenty, but I rely on more wood and especially on all the hills.
I'm gonna mine the F out of them.
And then do Mining Co. It can be an enormous corporation on this map, given the right map :)

It may fail for a record, but I want to experience other settings and think further :)
So I'll do a game with Huayna on Highlands. Same settings - Noble!

Oh, and a question to readers...
I noticed that I get different Random Events now. Why?? Is the industrial trait important for that??

I always play with random events, but I've waited ages for a random GA on Terra with Pacal.
Nothing (other events I did randomly get, like +4 on coal plants).
Now on highlands with Huayna Chapec, I get a lot more of the Great library quest and the +2 health "experiment" test. I played months without getting them AT ALL and now they spam my games (and I've only started getting into maps a few days ago).
    What gives? :?
