The Dune series written by the son (forget his name).

Pearl S. Buck's "The Good Earth"

The Scarlet Letter A (Nathaniel Hawthorne I believe)

I'd agree with The Scarlet Letter. Interesting the first time around, but it's all a bit trite and overdone the second.

2001 series (u have to love it to read the whole series)

The Dune series (as written by Frank Herbert) is excellent. His son (who I remembered to be Brian Herbert once I read your post) has made the series awful.

The second time it seemed that very little happened over a long period of time. I think the first time I thought it was good because it was a new story/experience. The second time that "newness" was taken away and as such killed the entire thing.

Indeed, it seemed unique. Once you realize that this book takes place over near a decade though and has so little to show for it, it seems a bit stretched.
