Depends. While there's little tragedies here and there, and a few pieces of legislation here and there... nothing major seems to have really happened.
I believe we need more carnage. Obviously, the countries some think are "evil" aren't evil enough! Why aren't missiles flying and shortly after being accompanied by dismembered body parts flying everywhere?! Why isn't every inch of this floating dirtball coated with red?!
*cough*
...Or, a bit less crazily, we could use something - or someone - generally new. All the major governments - at least the ones I hear about - haven't really shifted yet, and all the big faces are pretty much the same(Chavez, Putin, Brown, Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il, Hu Jintao, etc.). Despite all the "international tensions" some of the leaders here have, there seems to be more talk than action. When is an epic invasion going to happen where we can play one of the various remixes of Hell March? (I cast my votes for America vs. Mexico, China vs. Russia, and Britain + Russia vs. EU. OOoo. And a new Korean War.)
Or once more, something more sane, and simply a breakthrough. The past year has seen many breakthroughs for gay rights, for instance, but until the USA shoves states' rights down the homophobes' throats and force-legalises gay marriage across the country, I can't really call anything a "breakthrough."
While hoping for peaceful events of awesomeness, I cheer for violent ones of awesomeness. I want to see some government toppled and such carnage the French Revolution fails to compare. Something new, something interesting, no more of this, "x soldiers killed in country y" or "leader x threatens/insults country y" stuff.
