So VP has what in the code is called "local culture" as a yield. The border growth effects of culture without the policy/tourism/etc. effects.
Without getting into the design philosophy, this yield appears in tooltips.
However "Border Growth Points" is both a bit un-immersive compared to the other yield names (Food/Production/Gold/Science/Culture/Faith/Tourism) but also it takes up a lot of characters when you have to write it. This is unhelpful in space-limited tooltips like UAs and some other places like Corporations.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a more "lore friendly" terminology?

Of course the same goes for other points: Golden Age, Great General, and Great Admiral.
These are either a bit more rare or a bit shorter, so its not so noticeable. But still if there are an bright ideas I'd love to hear them.

The yield itself is unimmersive. Culture expands borders as part of its effects, but Border Growth Point does just that and nothing else. It sounds like you use military means to capture land forcefully (as opposed to culturally expand), but no military is actually involved in the game.

Fort gives border points is it kinda is.
I can get it if it only gives the points when a military unit is on the tile, not when the tile is worked by a citizen.

What difference would it make if a military is actually inside? Maybe some military influence is abstracted by a working citizen.

I think something like "Administrative Reach" or sth along those lines would be good, It would reflect the local administration's ability to extract value from the tiles aswell as the influence radius of the city currently hinted at via the culture interaction.

In the middle ages, the land controlled by an Italian commune outside the city was called its "contado".
Which just means "counted", so it's not fitting IMHO.
"Expansion points" I like the most, because it's clear and intuitive.
I don't like "influence" because in other strategy games it's a resource for some political actions.
"Annex" may be confused with annexing cities.

Expansion
Enclosure
Territory
Reach
These are all decent. Perhaps Expansion is the most clear from a game perspective.
Would avoid annex and influence since they are already concepts.
Don't want two-word yields if we can help it -- too long.

It's a nice idea to make those yields/points more distinctive and intuitive.

Expansion seems most intuitive when it comes to Border Growth Points. Or maybe Borders would be even more straightforward.

When it comes to Great General Points and Great Admiral Points perhaps simply Generalcy / Admiralty would be sufficient and understandable, or Generalship / Admiralship.

Golden Age Points feel kind of connected with Prosperity. It would make sense to enter a Golden Age after accumulating enough Prosperity.

In short:
Border Growth Points - Borders
Golden Age Points - Prosperity
Great General Points - Generalcy / Generalship
Great Admiral Points - Admiralty / Admiralship

+2 Borders +5 Prosperity +3 Generalship +1 Admiralty - looks understandable.

Maybe just Border Points? I like Expansion too. One thing about "Border Growth Points" strange naming is that, at least to me, it always indicated this is kinda not a real yield, like it is mostly unimportant, secondary yield, that is not well integrated with all other parts of the game and just pops up occasionally, so you shouldn't care that much about it unless you have a distinct plan involving specifically this yield. Expansion sounds like something cool and on par with other yields, but functionally it won't be. I thought of Golden Age Points the same way - strange naming indicates it is not as important. And Tourism baffled me in the vanilla game as it sounded like a big deal, but was simply ignorable. Good thing it is buffed in VP.

But I am just sharing my funny experiences, I am fine with Expansion, it was the first thing that came to my mind, and it seems not only to mine.

Yeah, both Golden Age Points and Border Growth Points are currently "yields" that you never actively go for, and they both trigger an event that happens when a(n ever-growing) pool is filled up.
