It was interesting to see that in BOTM 01, that with the new game-play (events, corporations, apostolic palace, espionage etc) that it was the usual suspects who showed that they could adapt and dominate the top of the leaderboard again.

hhhawk won the gold medal, with a convincing margin over Doc TK. In third, Jastrow picked-up his second bronze.

Congrats to the winners, and in particular Obormot for dominating the Domination gauntlet. Impressive beyond words. :)

A small nitpick - that new picture for the religious victory looks a bit out of place. Why the circle around it? :religion:

Why not take the :religion: one used by the forum?

Domination prooved to be not a very good choice for BOTM-1 VC as the game got very tedious towards the end, still eight people managed to complete the gauntlet. Thanks to everyone who participated. Here are the results:

1. Obormot 400AD
2. Lexad 1060AD
3. Jesusin 1250AD
4. Munro 1280AD
5. Gnejs 1610AD
6. Roland Ehnström 1702AD
7. bcool 1859AD
8. Rajaat 1907AD

Here are some intermidiate saves I made (2000BC, 1000BC, 500BC and 50BC), if anybody is interested.

The early capture of London, with its settler-producing might, was without doubt the key to victory.
Congratulations!
I am surprised to see where you founded your capital. I founded it 2N of there, gaining access to two pastures and using that to pump out settlers. Why did you prefer the 2S location?

Hmm... So overseas maintenance is basically 2x the normal cost. That is pretty difficult to handle...

Though BOTM1 was somewhat tedious, I had lots of fun and a great experience with the late-game improved AI in BOTM2, and managed to launch my spaceship before the submission deadline. Finished the game today! See you in BOTM3 Gauntlet as well.

I didn't know about the sheep in the north. I moved the scout to the south on the first turn, just to make sure I won't loose any seafood by moving to the blue circle.

I didn't have enough time for BOTM2, but I hope I'll be able to complete BOTM3.

Only two religious victories out of 145 submissions?

It's a pretty lame way to win, racing to build an ancient wonder and then sending out a few missionaries and then the game is over.

Certainly no tedium involved... (except finishing the game in a few hours means you have a long time to wait until the results are out).

Congrats to all the winners and thanks to the staff and all those who write spoilers.:goodjob:

Don't sell yourself short on that award JT nicely done. I ran some test games for both BotM 1 and 2 but can't get the hang of how to win the religious diplo game. Natural spreading kills me every single time.

Thanks to the staff for such a fun game! And to all spoiler-writers, you made me learn a lot!

Obormot, that date of yours is insane!
What should I have done differently?

A couple of saves from my game, just in case anyone is interested.

I am sorry for bringing some non-positive points to this thread:
- In the global rankings page, info doesn't fit inside the page, so you can't see your 6-aged results.
- In the Pantheon of Heroes, info doesn't fit the page either.
- With all my respect for MarkM, what is a cow doing among the BTS Awards? Hmm, this sounds too aggresive, let me rephrase: what are the requirements to become a BTS heptathlete status?

With all my respect to jesusin, I don't think you have to worry about me becoming a "heptahlete" anytime soon. I'm afraid I can't answer your question though, since I have no idea, I haven't paid much attention to those things.

I'm not sure I comprehend your root concern, but you can "abolish the cow award" or whatever retroactively and take mine away if that resolves it. Though it was kinda cool to actually win an award for once I confess. And totally unexpected. Like I said I haven't paid attention to details for these things, but somewhere along the line I thought I read that you have to play to 2050 & get a time victory to win cow??? I got a domination win in 1860! I wasn't even conscious of the cow. As I said in my thread I was just trying to do all the late-game BTS things like corporations etc that I hadn't had a chance to do before because I'd been playing at a higher difficulty and/or not playing BTS games all the way to the end. I could have kept playing & run up my base score a LOT higher if I wanted, but I'd done everything I wanted to do in the game, so I just went to war & ended it.

I believe it was decided to keep the cow award, but remove it from the eptathlon. At least that seemed to be the consensus among (most of) those who had anything to say about it during the discussion.
